    Two steps forward one back




    Popped the coils in and got the pipes on.While doing that I noticed http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=196576 .Yeah the pipes are not even,yet.When tifgtened down they will be.

      Thinking about getting one of these to replace the suspect fuse box.Any thoughts?On sale at a good price.

        It will work Greg but I prefer having the cover on mine. I picked it up from www.wiringproducts.com for about $10 so not much more than that one.

          Yes but with shipping to Canada it totals $27.Not so inexpensive.

            The reason the master stripped out.The bottom one is the one I got from Apex/Rennsport,top is one from a 83 750.Guess what I'm using?Then getting the master together I can't find the *^% %*#! brake pivot bolt!This is the second one I've lost on this project

              Found a solution to my pivot bolt problem.Rooting though some CB-F stuff I have hanging around I found a head dowel,just the right size to go in the MC! Now a regular bolt will work.System now works like it should.Got the throttle stuff on but it's just to tight.May try switching out the cables.

                The tight cables may be from one of 2 things....routed wrong thru forks and / or they are sticking down thru thye frame in the wrong spot. Take some opics so i can see how youve got them routed thru the forks andm under then tank..where you got them osaaing thru thr frame diown to the carbs. Also, did ya grease the plastic part in the handle the cables go in to som itm slides well in the switch housing???

                  I'm thinking the problem is more basic than that Chuck.One of the cables is left over from a GS400,it's about 1/2 inch to short

                    I have a set of throttle cables from the abandoned CB750F project.One is the right length and goes right in.Not very smooth but it will do till I can get a proper one.

                        If shipping it would not cost an arm and 1/2 a leg(see my location)I might take you up on this.I have a rider so I'm not in a rush here.Got the throttle cables to work.Went to the local dealer to order a throttle sleeve for the XR.Got a set of new plug caps while I was there.Could probably saved some $$ ordering the caps on line even with shipping but he's saved me enough to so I'm OK.

                          OK the wiring harness is on the bike,the electric panel is mostly done.A newer R/R and the original fuse box.Just the solenoid and flasher unit to go.Have a flasher off a 83 750(same PN as a 78 1000) but the rubber bit that holds it to the panel was on the frames I sent to the recyclersPut in the old clutch cable but it looked dead so put in the new cable then realized I had to move the pivot arm

                            A little problem



                            Just grand.Don't think there's room to move the R/R up.Is there enough to move the solenoid down without fouling the side cover?A quick fitting says no.Now what do I do?

                              Can you spin the solenoid 180 degrees, so the posts are on the flip side ? or add some spacers to raise it to clear the R/R

                                The red wire is on the wrong post and attaches to the battery.Spacers have the same problem.Could use the way small R/R off a 83 750 but I don't really want to
