    Thanks guys!
Ness, the body work will be a challenge all in itself. The inside of the tank really needs some work. Side panels and tail section look good.
I'm more concerned about the odd low rpm knocking noise it has on the clutch side.
Hopefully its something with the clutch.

I'm not sure what the smokey look is in the pic.

The bike looks really great also, that buffer really got a work out.
You've definitely earned some braggin rights.

Of course we all know pics look better than real life. I'm happy with the pipes(I got lucky). They aint perfect but turned out real good for 30 year old chrome.
Still have to get the rear section bolted up, lol.

Figured out the knock. You guessed it, lose clutch basket nut.
Which kinda makes me wonder what I've been wondering all along. Why was this bike parked to begin with?
Perhaps the PO(or PO, PO..) thought that perhaps it had a rod knocking?
        It sounded really really bad.
        Who knows...

Ordered a new air filter before I fine tune it but believe it or not, despite the helluva time I had getting it started for the first time it fires right up. Needless to say without a filter it's not running very well.
Remember that cylinder that had low compression? Check em all and for the life of me I cant find it anymore. All of em above 150psi

Now I'm excited to get started on the bodywork.

Nice work Todd! It's really starting to take shape into a bona fide head turner.
The odd Compression reading may have simply been a sticky ring that once run for a bit freed up. Brett Griffin had a 750 that he thought was bad news when he first started it. Blowing oil out of both pipes and crap compression but after a bit of running all the pots perked up and it was a great runner.
Can't wait to see more! Keep up the nice work.

            Thanks Josh.

I'm not running it much with no air filter but it does seems to run better the longer I run it. Man you should have seen the soot come out of this thing. I had to sweep the darned garage floor it was so bad.

Head turner, heh.. My 850 turns heads

Got the air filter installed and tinkered with the carbs and timing a bit and as luck would have it I managed to have it puring like a kittin. Revs from idle to about 6k like a beast. Sounds very strong! Idles wonderfully!

Carb sync should make it even better. New wires and end caps should make it better still. And to think, the year and a half I've had it I have really had doubts it would even start.

              On to the body work

I cant wait to ride it!!!
              Thanks GSR!
