hahahah I'd vote for it. I feel too many BOM's are stock, or very close to stock. While I like the stock, I see no reason that some crazy cool GS builds couldn't be BOM.

      I like your bike.

So I want you guys to know that I'm still working on the bike and cleaning things up, but at a much slower rate.

Since the trip I have fixed the crack in my fender so it doesn't flex nearly as bad and rub the tire and I picked up a tube and mounted my vintage 2.75x19 pirelli mt53. Looks SO much better. Definitely fits the bike better. Also makes the bike handle more responsively? I guess a more narrow tire is easier to turn? Also I somehow managed to drop a pod filter in the yard when we left for the trip this past weekend so when I saw that I just pulled the other one off and stuck it in my bag... So I put both my filters on and went for a test ride with the fender fix and new front tire... Wow this things flies now! It has much more power with the filters and new dyna ignition. Was the 1980 model gs450 stronger than the '82 model? Sure feels that way. It pulls the front wheel off the ground now, even with the heavy springer.

        New tire:

Oh yeah I stripped the black powder coat off the front wheel too. I'll get to the back later...

Promise I was there. Well Friday afternoon and most if the day Saturday I was.

I meant I would have definitely stopped to check it out. I was stuck in the swap meet most of the weekend. That was that G 25 reference Pete mentioned.

I dig the bike, looks like a 53 chev could be your next project?

Ok, first of all, looking good as always, and glad to hear you got the guard mount sorted as that could've gotten interesting...

Now... new Dyna ignition???? C'mon you didn't tell me you were doing that!! Is this the DS3-3C that's in mine as well? How did you go getting it in? Did you grind a bit off the plate to get the oil pressure switch screw some clearance or leave it as is? Inquiring minds need to know...

Sorry I didn't come find you... I was mostly preoccupied trying to keep my dad from worrying about his bike problems. I should've let him haul it over in the back of the truck instead of riding with me. He worried all weekend. I'll definitely be back next year though!

Yeah it's a '52 chevy fleetline, but I'm going to fix it up a little more an sell it to focus on bikes. I'm too ADD for a full on car project, and I can build bikes pretty quick haha.

Yep, Dyna... it was my only hope to get the bike running in my short time frame for Barber. I ordered the same kit as you for the gs400, but got it from someone on ebay. Came with the coils, and I picked up some plug wires from the local parts store. I didn't modify the oil pressure switch screw or anything... I'm not running an oil pressure light so the wire was already cut short down there... so I just tucked it out of the way and it didn't seem to be too close with the new plate on. And I just filed a nylon washer down for fitment on the rotor. Runs SO MUCH STRONGER now with the ignition that actually makes a strong spark.

Aaah awesome! Glad to hear it's running better with the Dyna

If you want to run the oil pressure switch (I personally don't like having it disconnected) it's real easy to tie in too.

I'll have to tell the guys at Dynatek there's another one in the wild now too

Well the flexy fender finally gave it up yesterday morning on the way to work. It was too thin from the start and I should've reinforced it. So I put the fender I had on my other chopper on and took the time to shorten the sissy bar a bit.

Flexy fender.... haha I like it

The name that is, not the fact it gave out on you! That would've made an interesting trip to work...

I think I like the shortened sissy bar better too...

Also, any chance you could get a detail pic of your Dynatek plate installed? I'm curious to see if there's any difference in clearance to where the oil pressure switch is...

This is about as detailed as my phone will do

About to go for a ride... Hopefully I'll return with cool pics

Mate that's perfect, thanks! About the same clearance as mine too.

                              Looking forward to cool pic's

Gah can't catch a break... So on the ride yesterday the bike kept blowing the main fuse... Seems the 40 year old ignition switch I stole from my ts400 is the main suspect.

But, I have bigger problems... at some point yesterday the bike stopped charging, and also something is wrong with the starter clutch. I'm hoping the charging issue is just loose connections. But I won't know what it is until I get the starter issue fixed.

I got some ok pics yesterday, but I forgot the camera at home, so I'll have to upload them tomorrow.
