Fair enough. All in good time I suppose. Judging by the work you've done on the bike already I'm sure you can sort the issues out.

Well you know a nice comfy seat cushion would help that.. Just saying is all...

looks like seafoam has saved my bacon for now...its back up to 130 psi hot, so that'll buy me some time till winter. that way I can properly tear it down and go thru it and not be in a hurry

true..but its not my ass thats the problem, my hands get so fatigued after riding it more than 10 minutes. I would love to put a set of superbike bars on it and ditch the clip ons, but then it wouldnt be a "cafe racer anymore".

Looks like your tail bubble is a little skewed to the back tire? Need to be tweaked over to the left of the bike? Interesting build. Not really my thing but good job! Almost rat roddish Curious, what's with the black electrical tape "x" on the headlight???

if your talking about the 3rd pic in post #38, it sure is skewed because it wasnt bolted down, i just kinda threw the tins on there to see how cool it looked. (but its straight as an arrow now as its bolted..I need to do some better pics/show and shine photo shoot soon) as for the x on the headlight, honestly I have no idea, but it seems all the cool kids with cafe racers are doing it so im gonna join in on the action

Well, except for the exhaust, it looks fantastic!!

Forgive the criticism from the cheap seats, but with a heroic amount of skills and effort gone into the bike up to then, it seems like a quitter to just wrap that exhaust in burlap and give some cheesy throwaway line like you're too poor... I mean, come on! You fab up everything and make it all look great! How many hours did you spend making that tank look so good? And then to "give up" on the exhaust and wrap it in burlap? I fully believe you can do better! Get back out there and make that exhaust live up to the potential of the rest of the bike!

Other than that - awesome project!

hey, that burlap was kinda damn expensive...besides its only temporary till i find a deal on an exhaust...I kinda have a problem with dropping 400 bux on an exhaust, when ive got less than 1k in teh whole project.

Oh, I know, I know. And it's easy (and unfair) of me to sit back and throw stones.

But, I'm betting you could've done SOMEthing that'd look OK - welded up a nice system, then used some hi-temp black or something, or welded up some steel and "shined" it up to look raw...

Burlap headers are just a pet peeve of mine.

                  But as I say - it's a nice-looking bit of work.

Hey there. Nice work. Two questions:
What is that 4-2-1 exhaust? And do you really think that rear shockmount will hold?

Have fun with finishing it up!

its a stock 4-1 that i bastardized (the collector was to crap, so i got some 1.5" tubing and welded it in). and yes I dont think, I know my rear shock mount holds.

Aww screw that noise man. Put on some bars you can actually ride the bike and enjoy it on. You could also get some clip ons that have a rise built into them. There's no reason such a bad ass bike should be limited to a 10 minute ride. Screw the 'cool kids' and make your bike ride-able so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor longer. Personally I think a set of low-rise MX type bars would be sick. That's what all the cooler kids riding street fighters use anyway

well, back after it, I had a bad issue with ignition and fowling plugs... Something about 30Ω across the 1-4 secondary coil, and leaking something waxy outta it wasnt making any spark. So while I was at it I checked the 2-3 coil, it was on its way out at 25Ω across the secondary.. So might as well drop a bomb on it and take care of business. Ill let the pics to the talking from here

                          No more points for me!!!

actually you should easily be able to get riser clip ons, all the sv s models come with them. Not sure if the fork diameters are the same from 01 to 03+ though. if i ever getting around to putting those gixxer inverted forks on my 1k I can part with the risers

oh and congrats on making something totally cool out of my two favorite zooks

Red plug wires add at least another 20 horses..... But, damn I never knew that it was supposed to run this smoothe.. So if you have points, and they're letting you down, don't dick around, go for the dyna s..

Damn man you do fine work. I'm not big on the exhaust either, only b/c I don't think it fits with the rest of the bike, but I know you said you would deal with that later. Very envious of your skills!
