Will these wheels fit on my 84 GS550 ?

Hi everyone. First of all, I want to apologize about the lack of details concerning my question but here it is.

Will these Kawasaki Vulcan spoke wheels (year is unknown) fit my 1984 GS550 ?

    Here is a picture.

They're pretty cheap and they'll look pretty good for my current project. I repeat, they're from a Kawasaki Vulcan, unknown year. Thanks a lot and I hope to get an answer soon.

Yes, they will fit...after you perform the appropriate modifications.

The appropriate modifications may not be easy though... bearings, brakes (alignment, rotor sizes), line up of the drivetrain etc

I'd say no on tyre size issues.

Looks like a lot of weight for a Medium/small motor to spin. What size Vulcan did they come off, a 500 or 1700?

Okay, so I was being sarcastic. Sorry. There is not enough information about these unknown wheels to make a proper assessment.

I can say that the second generation 550 has a 16" front wheel so swapping in other wheels will be more difficult that some other bikes. Beyond that, who the heck knows without seeing the wheels and the bike? My "guess" is you would be in for a LOT of work adapting those wheels. Not worth it.

As a sage old mechanic once said, "anything can be made to work with enough time and money". My vote is with Ed, its likely going to be more effort and cost than its worth. If you have access to a full machine shop it might be easy enough but if you have to farm out the work it will get pricey.

I don't know what you have in mind for your project but as a 550 owner myself, I don't think spokes would look right anyway.

If they're cheap enough you could pick them up and see up close if they might work. If not you can always resell.

              good luck with it.

I really appreciate all the comments, seriously. Seems like I'd have to work these wheels a little too much to fit my bike properly.

I'm mainly looking for spoke wheels. I know that earlier GS bikes have spoke wheels. Is there a set that would fit "bolt-on" or almost I could get?

Once again, thanks for the interest.
