It will be a year or more before I do the conversion bonanzadave. I just bought new tires, sprockets and chain so will ride it till those need replacing first. I'll keep you in mind when I take them off.

Started doing a little polishing. This is my 1st time so it's not the best but it's looking better each time I try.

I think this is as far as I'm going with the swing arm.

My oil filter cover has the plugs for a cooler, leading me to believe it either had one in it's past life or it's a 1150 cover.

I'd love to have those but I'm going the hard way and polishing them. I might buy some extras and polish them while I'm riding the bike.

Put the swing arm and foot peg brackets back on tonight.

I want to take it back a part and powder coat the frame but that's my OCD talking. I'm having to keep him suppressed so I can at least ride it this year.

Not sure yet if I'll have the tank and parts painted this year or next year.

                      You sound just like me....LOL

so many times I wanted to take it all back down to frame and powdercoat, not only the frame but all the other parts that were to be black, but it was just not in the budget...

however, once it's all together, there really is not a lot of frame showing, and what is, if your paint job is good enough, it will still look very nice....I know I am happy with the results I have, and will leave it as is.....

                      she will be just fine......

Yep, I'm not going to worry about the looks of the frame for now. I used the string alignment to get it the rear wheel straight. That was a pain in the butt.

I must ask, what's the best exhaust for these bike? I only see V&H and Mac make them now but what happened the Kerker. Most bike I see on here have the Kerkers on them.

Finished painting and rebuilding the brake calipers. The rear are already finished and on the bike. The front master cylinder is being a pain to rebuild.

Anyone have any pointers on getting the old parts out?

Also, I am in need of help on pluging most of the wires back in. I didn't label anything which was very stupid of me.

I'm trying to make up my mine whether to rebuild the forks or not.

Put smaller blinkers on it but not sure they will be seen. I might just cut my losses and buy some longer ones.

After rebuilding the brakes I think I need to take the forks off and clean them out. After that there shouldn't be anything else to fix other than the motor.

I put the carbs on today and tried starting it. It started on the first try. The petcock isn't working so I need to rebuild that. Also having a hell of a time getting the brakes bled but hope to get that finished soon. I'll be ready to ride soon. I didn't worry about painting the body work yet. No money.

TECH, just noticed your thread, if you need help, I'm in B.R. (I know a thing or 2 about GS's)
Anyway, as for your brakes, did you put braided lines on???
If not/or so,,,,,, go BUY a vacuum pump (I think Oreilly's has them for $48) Balls to pumping the brakes then release, over and over again.....
I'm doing a GS1100 right now and used my trusty pump, took 15 minutes to do the front (new master cylinder, braided lines, and fully rebuilt calipers.
Great work by the way,,,, A+
