          must be gettin old

been pushing the envelope a little more on my project. But ive dodged the bullet on some forgetful mistakes.
1st trip down the block forgot to tighten the end caps on the front forks, no harm.
2nd trip down the street on another day got back and noticed that the front axle nut want tightened.
decided to rechange the oil today before taking it to work (10 miles). the drain plug was finger loose.??
took it a couple of miles to open it up and the back wheel turned out to be loose. tightened it up and took it out again. realized i didnt put the cotter pin in. My guardian angel must be getting fed up by now.
I was building an airplane once but sold it. Maybe I should reconsider that!

Well played my friend. Dig'n the enthusiasm prior to dieing on your first project. If I were you I would get a torque wrench and a spec of all the bolts and go to town. Good luck.

yes ill chaulk it up to enthusiasm. now ill take a deep breath and get the torque wrench. also , I got this proj in january. my goal was to have it ready for bike week here on south padre island to i can irritate the harley riders. looks like im missing it by a week or two. oh well it was a minor goal anyway.

started out to take it to work on a 20 mile round trip shakedown cruise. got on the expressway and realised i didnt have my work keys, so turned back. pulled back out from my street to a busier one. gunned it slightly on a patch of fine gravel and it started to fishtail but i saved it and the tire caught and away i safely went. this is my 1st four cyl and im finding out is likes to take off! also found i need to put in some fork seals real soon. pics will follow when i paint the tank and put on the seat cover tuesday.

heres the latest pic. covered the seat with "carbon fiber" pattern seat cover. still need to give the tank a finished coat and decals. kinda looks like my 07 bonneville black that i no longer have.

this is the fina product with the exception of decals. sorry I just cant figure out how to get clickable thumbnails. Took it out on the hightway and am blownaway. get over 70 and it jumps to 90 effortlessly. almost scary. Ive been lucky in that the charging system has been good and everything works. Just some carb tweeking. love it.
