stripped the tank with an 8" air sander/grinder with 80 grit. Will go back over after body work with 120 before primer.
Well guess there is only one way to do it right. Not long now until I start painting and reassembling. Would like to get the engine back in the frame by Jan 9, because after that I will probably be too busy for the next four weeks to do anything on the bike. My luck spring will come early and I wont be ready.

Was a good day. Quit work early so got to work on the bike for the afternoon. Bike now completely disassembled. frame cleaned up, scuffed down, and sprayed flat black. I went something simple because I know there will be some more welding eventually like rear sets and master cyl. So its easy to touch up where needed. Having it all apart I got all the welding done now inside and out for the mono shock and the tail end of the frame work. New races put in the neck for the steering bearings. Lower bearing off ready to install new bearings on the stem. And the most comforting feat of the day was removing all three broken exhaust bolts. Two I got out welding a nut on and carefully backing it out. The third I had to end up drilling it out almost to the threads, then ran a tap through. Good as new. Thats the most exciting part of the whole day. And I always have to post a picture of the days work...

Congrats on the progress results from the big push!
There always seems to be cool toys in the background, I was noticing the Cobra R wheels on the early Fox body Mustang.

Haha. The mustang it's my bosses. It's been sitting since the engine developed a tick and nothing has been done. The Corvette is a customers.just painting the top half black and rims are out getting powdercoated black.

My wife let me go to the shop today while she did some baking. Got in a full day on the bike. Did a lot of scrubbing, sanding, painting and assembling today. Still need some more elbow grease on the silver engine pieces but it gets the idea going. Also the inside of the circles on the silver pieces will be going black to cover up some road rash. Will upgrade to better condition ones and maybe paint them white to match the bike later
