      Mate I hear ya' about being distracted... I have a few niggly things around the 450 that I haven't quite gotten back to yet because I've worked on other things just like that...

      My suggestion with the fork gaiters is to buy another set, I scored a perfectly sized generic set from my local Suzuki dealer for... umm... can't remember but it was like $20 or $30.

      I did all my engine cleaning/polishing/painting with it completely dismantled, so can't help you on in the frame stuff I'm afraid... in fact that's one of the reasons I took it apart

        the rears are MDI's. they're not bad, i heard a lot of mixed things about them but they seem alright, we'll see once they get some riding time.
