Flyboy i have to hand it to you, those rims look awesome. Pete thanks for the reply as always. You two have given me some direction. I may also look into getting the wheels sand blasted and the black redone with powder coat. Not sure yet, will have to see what the damages are to my wallet.

Yeah powdercoating can definitely get expensive... I actually brushed mine on but I'm not sure I'd recommend it... spraying is so much quicker and easier but a lot more messy...

Progress!

Ok, i finally got time to do some more work on the bike today. I managed to get the forks all torn down, and the seals removed. The seals turned out to be far less of an ordeal than i originally thought. I ended up just using a flat head screwdriver placed vertically under one edge of the seal resting the shaft of the driver on the opposite side of the outer fork. All it took was a little encouragement and the darn things popped right out. Fifteen min job at most. Anyways here are some more pictures of the progress. I do have a question for anyone out there though. I followed the fork tear down guide by Matchless on BassCliff's site and it mentioned to replace the phillips drain screw with a stainless steel allen bolt. Anyone have a specific part number or a link to z1? I do want to replace them but i have no idea which one to grab.

P.S. any opinions on the rust? Salvageable/not salvageable? I will hopefully try to clean it up tomorrow.

Nice work! That rust looks fine, especially if it's not in a spot that the fork seals actually slide over.

I'd give it a cut/buff/polish and see how it looks then...

Thanks for looking in bigbeardan. More Progress!! I dropped the lower outer forks off to the sandblaster today. I apologize i didnt get any before pictures, but i will for sure post the after pictures. From the previous pics they dont look to bad, but after a soak in marine clean they were in pretty rough shape. Mostly because i left them in for longer than i should have. >.> Anyways more to come.

Above is the work that i had done at the sandblaster/powdercoater. The pictures really dont do the work justice. They did an amazing job.

I do have a question for someone more versed in tires than i. The rims i have are a 19x1.85 front and a 16x2.15 rear. I'm trying to figure out what size tires in need. The tires that were on it when i got it were 100/90 19 on the front and 130/90 16 on the rear. I have looked over the forums and the info from basscliff and from what i can tell for the front i should be looking at any of the following:

2.15x3.25
2.15x3.50
2.15x3.60
90/90

And the rear should be in the neighborhood of:

1.85x2.75
1.85x3.0
1.85x3.10
80/90

Someone/anyone please advise. I would like to get tires ordered and installed so i can start to get the basics put back together.
