    1980 gs750L bobber/sport bike hybrid

Hey yall, my name is jake. i just got a 1980 GS750L in a trade and well... broke a spark plug in the head but got a hell of a deal on CL for a headunit i had layin around haha! either way the motor i traded for is in a LOT better condition than the one that came with the bike. my plans for the bike is to chop the rear off bobber style put in a single seat, put some racing/ crotch rocket style bars in with shorter brake/clutch levers. putting GSXR or similar wheels and tires on, custom airbrushed tank with orange frame and everything else black. i have a few questions seeing as i am new to the bike scene and dont know much about them (i work on cars not bikes lol). I want to ditch the dual shock rear and put in a single shock rear and swing arm GSXR style. is there any direct swaps for this? also what all suggestions do yall have for me? thanks in advanced guys im super excited for this project!

No way! My links always work!

This is what I was talking about. saltcitytattoo's bike. The build thread is somewhere on here... Should I look for it? It has a monoshock rear end, GSXR wheels/front end, and a bobber!

              Dang... His pictures are gone.
Are you doing a restoration project of some kind on a GS? Let everyone see what you are doing by posting the details here.

Here's scottychop's build on some other bike.

GSXR front end and clip ons. The picture is huge so here is a direct link.

Mine did that too until I gave the carbs the full cleaning. Cleaned once just tear apart and use carb cleaner but wasn't good enough. Boiled the bodies for half an hour in lemon water and runs tons better now. Also did the o-rings ordered from cycleorings.com

If that reaR tailight lens is in good shape, I would be interested in taking it off your hands when you get to that stage of your build.

Personally, I think shortening the frame where the filler panels between the sidecovers and tailpiece, and moving the stock tail forward with a single seat would look sweet!

k so i got the floats unstuck and cleaned her up real good. she idles decent :/ and when i ride it up and down the street is cuts out and bogs down after about 1/3 throttle. right now there is no airbox on it and the choke is not functional. the exhaust is just manifold and pipe no muffler cuz the original one rusted and fell out lol. i plan on putting a muffler on it just dont know what yet. Any suggestions on the carb issue? and possible CHEAP exhaust suggestions? mainly worried about the carbs tho

Hold on... There is no airbox on the bike and no muffler??? I'm surprised it actually runs. Please DO NOT run the bike anymore until you get airbox or pod filters on your carbs. If you get pod filters, rejet the carbs. A cheap solution for your mufflers would be to go to your Harley dealer and ask them if they have any mufflers (they will ). They will sell them for cheap or give them to you for free.

It is running SUUUUUPER lean the way it is now. Keep running it without doing the above WILL burn your valves and other damages may happen. This is also why your bike is bogging.
