How many KM's on that engine?
Do you know anyone in the car biz that can do an appraisal for you? That's what I had to do in Ontario and paid tax on the appraisal.

did some cleaning, not done yet but after two complete day and an half in the garage my hands started to hurt a bit.
getting that cooked mud out of the fins is a real PITA
now, i am going to need some special tools
and all the gaskets before going further with the engine rebuilt.
i need more money for that, it s going to wait a week.
next week end, because i will not have the tools to keep going with the engine it will be cleaning things, if the money follows i ll buy carb gaskets and hex screws.
or/and probably taking care of brake lines!
i think, when the project will be over, i will clean and part out the part bike, i might not even use it s engineLast edited by Guest; 10-02-2011, 03:19 PM.

I believe the '84 would be the same. Man you are brave with everything you're tackling at once on this project! I take my hat off to you!

Quick update :
Bought :
engine's complete gasket kit from Vesrah, these will have to do, used the brand once before, was happy with it.
carbs float bowls gaskets.
Stainless screws for carbs
O-rings.
Started to fix, while at home in my apartment, the gauges back cover,
big big crack there, did some plastic welding with some black Tie wraps and my solder iron, then some epoxy putty, sanded it down, worked like a charm, for 0$
more to come this week end!!!

thanks guys!
So, today's !
after the plastic welding (sry no pictures of the process! didn t have the camera with me!) and the epoxy i was not happy enough with the smoothness of the thing, so i worked with some bondo and 300 - 600 grit.
worked with the plexyglass of the gauges too,
very good product imo. simple and cheap (12$)
pass of black, very thin buildups cos i forgot to buy primer :P
done. happy with it.
i bought some VHT Frame paint and tried it on the footrest thing.
not bad.

Contact your local Suzuki dealer and buy OEM Suzuki gaskets for the engine!!!!
Especially on the base gasket and head gasket!! It's gonna be a real PITA to replace those Vesrah gaskets when they start leaking and they will. It's worth the extra money to use OEM engine gaskets, I'll make my own ignition cover gaskets or use aftermarket on a valve cover gasket, but never anything other than OEM for the rest!

ah... damn.
have a couple of friends that have been using Vesrah gasket kits on multiple engines with no issues, i did use the brand once myself (not on a street bike). Are you telling me this brand is bad on our GSs??!
if so, i ll try to buy base and head gaskets then.Last edited by Guest; 10-08-2011, 11:57 PM.
