    update :

have no pictures of the process, i cleaned contacts, check wires, replaced black tapped areas of the harness.

the bullet connectors, overall, are in good shape, i ll buy some quick disconnect spades connectors and replace all of it i think, even if the bullet ones looks good, i hear too much people changing them to not do it myself, i guess

by the way, is there any test i could run on the ECU/CDI unit? i mean without having every thing hooked to battery and coils?

    thank you.

About the only way to check the damping is to get the spring off and see if it still has any damping left. Your shock has 4 settings for damping and you should notice a difference between the settings. Even new the stock shock wasn't all that great.

You get a sense of it from riding, whether or not it's bouncing all over the place. Also try to take the cables off the adjustments. I did on mine and found they were disintegrated inside. I just ditched them for the weight savings and rode it around like that for a while. I have a R1 shock in there right now, which is a little stiffly sprung. There should also be some specs for the shock in the manual, haven't checked though.

              allright!
here s for today, i think i won t do more than that this week end.

              cleaned, sanded, painted this

              look at that, aaaaalll pretty!

              took care of the rear,
started with wirebrushing to remove major dirt

              took it out

              some cleaning going on here.
I have to admit, now i start to HATE cleaning dirt+grease :P

              The piece ready for painting

              and it was done.

then i clean more pieces... bolts and shafts and stuff.
              boring, so no pictures!

I am going to use the part bike rear shock absorber, it s in much better external shape, so i guess it s better inside too, like everything on that early retired part bike

                  Thank you Jeeprusty!

I forgot to mention, i received carbs gaskets and o-rings, but not my stainless screw kit.
so i will not rebuild/bench synch my carbs this week end.

                  SOON!

By the way, those handmade weldings are really fat, lol!
