Well as she stand right now, I am just waiting on the stuff from Larry. I sent him the front fork trim piece I bought for his restoration expertise. Soon as the stuff get back from Larry, I will throw the front end on and the engine will be set in the frame. The engine is all done with nice super shiney covers and all new gaskets. Clutch was inspected while the cover was off and I made sure the hub nut is secure. I have a wanted thread in the wanted parts section for a really nice stator cover emblem..thats the last needed thing far as i know.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Well today was the wammer jammer wrenching day. Frank Z. came over and we put the complete frt end on..forks, calipers, wheel, brake lines, headlight bucket, turn signals, Then we set the engine and bolted it in. Ran the wiring harness and plugged everything back in. Installed the carbs and throttle cables and lower airbox. How much did you have to pay Frank for the help?

Didnt pay him anything...he got the benefit of my experiene..to include seeing and learning how to polish the aluminum like a miiror ( we did a few learning patches on an old stator cover). And NO HE IS NOT MOVING IN!!!!!!!!!! Once bitten and lesson learned here.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Had great time and learned A LOT for sure, Chuck. Like GS boot camp; knees, arse, and back sore as hell... Can't wait to do it again! Cool to reconnect with JBR at KPS too. Looking forward to having the 'motorcycle whisperer' take a look at the S. Dyno here we come!
Skunk #2 should be purring soon. Gonna be a bewt, esp. with the new body work from Larry. Post some progress pics soon!

Got her fired up today and checked the timing since i had that brain fart and turned the engine without the cam chain tensioner in place. All was good to go. Got the carbs synced and checked the charging. Its charging but I think I need to do some more cleaning on the connections. Thanks guys..I expect the next few days and I will be ready to put the body work on. I will still have to calibrate the sending unit for the fuel guage once the tank is on. Hopefully that wont take too many times on and off to get it set right. Its a lot of stuff to do but at least now its whittled down to the small things and double checking all the bolts and being sure the cotter pins are all in.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Got all the connectors cleaned with a wire brush and put a smear of dielectric grease on each one. Got the chain and chain guard on also. I then started bleeding the brakes. I had just gotten to the end of the second front caliper when the handle on my mighty vac snapped. Next one is gonna be the better metal one. I was gonna put the front brake switch on, but soon realised I dont remember where i put the little spring and U shaped connector so they wouldnt get lost..Yeah that worked out well. Got me a nice all metal construction Mighty Vac today and finished the brakes. Cleaned and greased the speedo and tach cables and installed them. Put the big rubber handle bar cushion thing on and now am repainting the Suzuki emblem that goes in the center. Polished the mirrors and put them on too. Front fender installed.
