    Clean out your PMs Daniel?
Do you have a sissy bar-luggage rack laying around for my 1100? Want to make the woman confortable.

Thanks, I'll definitely have to check out all of the wiring on this beast.
I didn't notice when I got it but, it also has a headlight modulator.

      Back too the digging:

This is what came out of one of the carbs. Doesn't look much like gasoline to me...

And just how lovely it looked inside...

As filthy as those carbs were, I decided to switch some parts from this dirty old set from an 1100E model that had been running.

Pulled out the 145 main jets and 45 pilot jets as well as the emulsion tubes.
Replaced the O-rings on the needle and seat as well as cleaning parts and orifices.
Installed some used 40 pilot jets and a new set of 117.5 main jets as well as new well plugs.

Also installed these tubes from another set of 1000 CV carbs after cleaning them up.

Had to change the choke and throttle linkage from the messed up set of original carbs to make them work on this bike.
When I went to try and start it, the battery was extremely low as I must have left the key on most of the day.

After charging for another hour or so and about 63% charged.
It is a little bit dark outside. Fire in the hole!!!

Tomorrow I will clean up an old set of mufflers and see what happens then

Don't bother cleaning them .... just put a little carb cleaner in the gas tank and they will clean themselves .... <sarcasm>

He's probably too busy cleaning out some carbs.

Well I got around to putting exhaust on it today.
After looking around, I actually found an almost decent set of pipes!
I thought that I had sold any good ones that I had.
These were rusty as all heck though and I attempted to clean them up a little with a wire wheel on a air tool.
After finding that polishing a turd is not for me, I just scrubbed them a little with steel wool and penetrating oil.

I went to re-tap the exhaust bolt holes and of course that was not without a little bit of drama.
One of the bolts was broken off in the head.

Installed new studs while the threads were all happy.

                Continued...

The pipes were actually for a 1000G!
But, of course, they didn't all cooperate.
The right side outside pipe had somehow bowed and did not want to find a home without some persuasion.

I went ahead and tried to start it up and see how it might sound...

In my hurry to see if it even ran yesterday, after taking 3 sets of carbs to make one, and slap them on,
I didn't have time to replace the manifold O-rings! Duh!
Well, as usual, they looked GREAT!

After a little clean-up with a wire wheel and some new O-rings.

The bike actually is showing over 47,000 miles on it and the radio even works!

                  That's it for today.

Before going for a nice ride on the GSX this afternoon, I took the forks off of this one and rebuilt them.
Here is a bunch of pic's showing the break down on one...

I just happened to have a pair of Sonic 1.1 kg springs to replace the stockers...

Got them filled and installed back on the bike before I went for a nice ride.
I'll install the new '83 brakes and tire tomorrow perhaps.

Packed front wheel bearings with synthetic grease, installed '83 front calipers with some new Vesrah GG pads,
cleaned the rotors and cleaned and waxed the front fender...

Installed an air box with 750 covers and side covers with new grommets.
Starting to look more like a bike.

Great work Daniel, you sure are digging into it and getting some work done, I see a great ride in your future.

Looking at your first start up video, looks like you have some leaky plug wires there, need to get that sorted out.

Not sure how, without replacing the coils, but apparently there is a thread on here somewhere that tells you how to do it, because even though the wires seem to be part of the coil, it can be done, so I have read, maybe someone who knows better than me can chip in here.

                          Keep up the good work.

What you are seeing is the flames coming out of the exhaust ports on the head.
There was no exhaust on it when I started it.
I still have to get back to my '79 Cooley project.
If I can get my sand blaster working again soon, the cylinder is next for the 1100.
Winter is just about here now. Highs in the low 50's and lows in the 20's already.
If it does need coils/wires, I have a couple of sets of Dyna coils and a pair of Accel coils with plenty of new wires ready if needed.
I just wanted to basically see if it was worth fixing up. It runs and that is a good start.

I believe that you missed this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcMWTHTkts4
It is missing the cross-over clamp under the engine still.
And no air filters at all in that video.
