My new GS 550- Cafe here we come

So I was super lucky and got this GS 550T (1981) for free! Only 16K miles and I think it has a lot of potential to be a very cool bike. I do have a question for my fellow GSers. What are some of the more "go to" sites for GS parts?

I recently finished a XS650 bobber build (my first ever) and I am excited to do a cafe now. There were a couple of sites for the XS that seemed to have it all in terms of parts and advice, but I am wondering if the same exists for the GS. More to follow on this build. I am going to tear it down this weekend and get started on the engine.

    Here we go

I am surprised that you being a member since Jul 2010 with 42 posts, that BassCliff hasn't sent you your welcome package. If so, check it out. There is all kinds of info to help you in your search... most notably Z-1 and Babbits, I also check Suzuki Parts Nation. Now when it comes to custom parts for your cafe work... that a different road all together.

Thanks for the info. I had (as pictured in my profile pic) an 83 GS1100E that I would get help with, but I then decided that instead of just learning about maintenence I wanted to learn how to build something myself. I got the XS650 from a friend of a friend and started with that. Now that (8 months later) she is on the road and doing quite well I want to try to make a cafe instead of a bobber. The bobber looks cool and sounds awesome, but is not great for realistic riding. Anyway thank you for the links. I will need them for sure!

      Cheers!

Following along with a long dead thread? Good luck with that.
