Just keep in mind that if you get weird behaviour once it's all together that some passages may end up with fuel varnish in them still... need a real good soak in proper carb cleaner to get all the nooks and crannies clean.

I'd suggest they need a good soak if they sat for any more than about 6 months without being properly drained and having seafoam (or whatever the fuel stabiliser is called) mixed in with the fuel...

so on the carb float bowls right by the drain plug there is a port or nipple(whatever you wanna call it)...and on the main body there is a port....right now the ports on the main body have a hose connecting the two and the ones off the bowls are just open......is that correct and what is their purpose.....

Have you got a photo? That doesn't sound familiar from my carbs...

That hose looking bit joining the carbs... on my 450 carb's that's where the T piece plugs into both carbs which is where the fuel line attaches from the fuel tap...

Here's the pic....the hose on the right is my fuel line....the item in question is the brass colored port at my fingertip.....there's one on each carb and are joined by a hose.

Forgot about the float bowls sorry! Have you got a close up of them? All my float bowls have is the bolt that's a drain but also serves as access to the main jet...

Got me on that one! I would assume it's a drain but mine have nothing like that... what does it look like from the inside?

                              here is a better picture

from what I have read it's a vacuum hose for the slides ? still researching.... They are not vacuum hose's, see bottom of post for more information

found it on this guys blog site

This is about my project bike I acquired in fall of 2010. It's not a blog where you are going to see top dollar investments in unobtanium parts or quantum leaps in progress in each new post. I'm just a regular guy trying to scratch his itch to tinker and make a motorcycle better in the process without breaking the bank.

                              .
EDIT - found an entry on his blog......

After that I disassembled the left carb, much like the right one there was no clogging of the jets, just some varnish on certain parts, however I will complete a thorough cleaning as with the right carb. Also with the help of some people on CafeRacer.net (specifically Hillsy on the forum there) I learned that the mystery hose connections were breather ports for the carb bowls and that they just needed to have new hose put on and routed down by the swingarm where the float bowl overflow tubes go to.
                              I hope this helps...
