Eric came through in a big way. Got the rear caliper. Put all of the good parts together. Prepping the caliper for paint right now. Painting little odds and ends on the controls. Ordered a watch crystal to repair my brake fluid window. Ordered a set of decals for the controls.

Taking pictures tomorrow after I work on it some more.

Live and learn! Oh well, I would have bought the epoxy anyway.

Still painting bits and pieces. I picked up some of the duplicolor bumper paint that you used GK. That stuff is great on plastic. Appreciate the heads up on that. My switches and gauges will look new when I'm finished. s

                  Back to real posts....

Ok, so I've been working on what seems like minutia with the bike. So I haven't been posting pictures. I now have enough done to show some progress. A lot of little things add up.
I spent the last few times working on the bike cleaning, painting and polishing small parts.

Rear caliper replaced, repaired, rebuilt, painted with new SS lines to boot.

Front brakes finished up. I still need to pick up some SS allen heads to replace the old hex heads. I also wish I had gone an inch or two longer with this brake line, but it will do.

Not a good picture, but the coils are cleaned up and back on along with the wiring harness being greased and wired up.

I am particularly pleased with the way the Duplicolor bumper paint "restores" the old plastic. Thanks goes to GateKeeper for that tip. I am waiting on a set of decals from Frank Z to go on the control switches. I used a little red fingernail polish on the faded red run/stop switch. Can't even tell.

Here's the thing that's killing me. I had to tear up the center gauge back because someone put an additional screw in over the original screw. See my previous post for details. SO I ordered a new back cover. Got it. Then threw the old one away. So I thought!! Guess which on I still have!!

Anyone have a spare back cover? I hate to buy another new one. s

Hey GT, it's coming along very nicely......Thanks for the Kudos on the bumper paint idea, we did it on our sleds years ago for the inside of the windshields, believe it or not, the stuff is still on, no cracks or anything....and this on machines made for the winter.....

Hey i thought you were goinog to use all SS Allen screws, I see lots that are still the old ones......do I need to get some for you.....hehehehehe

so you get a new cover and then throw it out....sorry but I had to laugh at that one....LOL

                    looking good....

Man she's looking top notch GT! Those little details make all the difference in the end... and bummer on tossing the wrong cover! I hate it when you realise mistakes like that... just makes you want to find the nearest brick wall don't it?

Thanks Pete. It's comming along. I'm still in denial about the cover. I keep telling myself that it will turn up. But I've turned the garage upside down and still haven't found it. Aaahhhh!!!!!!

Oh well. It is what it is right? Gotta laugh about it. I call that "paying the stupid tax."

                            Cue the music....duhn duhn duuuuhn....

It's almost 11:00 here, my wife is out of town at a conference and the kids have been down for a while. I got the work space cleaned up and re-organized. I was tempted to pull a late-nighter and dive into this, but wisdom prevailed. I'd rather hit it with a clear mind and more sleep.

Lots of pictures for reference and good "before" shots.

                            So here's what is next:

Disassembly and dip coming next. Have my cycleorings.com o-rings and SS allen screws, berryman's dip, SS allen screw set, float gauge, Japanese standard screwdrivers, float bowl gaskets, polish wheel, paint and other sundries ready to go as well. All the while following the tutorial provided via theGSresources and BassCliff's site.

I feel like I'm earning my Eagle Badge here.

Will I have to redo mine.....? you gonna put mine to shame....

The only thing you need to do to yours is twist the throttle and hang on!

Those are the best kind of carbs.

Pretty sure I'm going to go with the silver paint I used on the motor with a clear coat and polish the caps and bowls. Will probably polish and clear the plated parts as well. They should look pretty good with all of that and the SS Allen Heads.
