    Tuning in....

Well I got the carbs synced today. That is not as easy as one might think. First, my motion pro carb adjustment tool was too small for the lock nuts. That made it VERY sporty to fine tune the screws. I had no idea that it would be so sensitive.

After working at it a while I finally got it here:

I used the colortune on one cylinder, but I couldn't get the flame to change color by adjusting the mixture screw. And it kept backfiring and blowing the cap off the sync adapter.

I will be putting the regular screws back in the sync ports instead of running the bike with the adapters installed. Those caps come off too easy once they get hot. One little sputter and they shoot off. It was quite comical at first. I looked like a juggler trying to keep my caps on!

I put the exhaust on right, tightened down the spark plugs and the intake boot clamps on the carbs. Discovered that I hadn't done any of these things before I started it yesterday. That's what I call the Odie complex. If you have ever seen Garfield you know what I'm talking about. Excitement seems to be the inverse of intelligence in my case.

Here's what it sounds like now:

I picked up some grips today and will be putting those on tonight.

Man, I'm glad we have other help forums to jump in and out of. This is my post in the Electrical Section to help diagnose the starting problem.

No grinding, thankfully! Just weak. That part is the battery. I need to get a fresh one anyway. Put the charger to this one and it boiled in a couple of hours without getting to a full charge. Not putting it back in the bike.

Who knows. I may put a new battery in and have it turn right over the first time. One can dream right?

Not that this helps your turning over problem, but I completely agree about Z1.

When I had ignitor issues and investigated the Dyna, Z1 painfully explained how a mechanical advance ignition worked to me, even after he told me he didn't have the part I was looking for.

    Agree 10000%

they sent me a whole new set of SS bolts for my covers after we found out the first set they sent were not for my bike, no charge for shipping, or anything, they just sent a new set of bolts....and it was 3 months latter, when I went to use what I ordered it was only then we noticed it was wrong, to them this did not matter, I even offered to send the other set back, they would not hear of it.....

    very happy with them....
