Is your build sponsored by Denny's?

I think I see a new name for the bike:

The GSX 750 or better known as....The Grand Slam w Xtra syrup -- $7.50

So today I stripped the bike down to the bare frame, finished the welding and started to strip the rusty old paint.

I noticed you put the rear brake reservoir on what looks like the old top shock mount. Just a suggestion but you might want to think about tucking that in tighter. The hose is kinda exposed so maybe you're going to make a longer one and run it along the frame tubing? Regardless, she's looking really nice.

Yup, I agree. The master cylinder is now mounted to the battery box behind the right hand side cover, leaves the back end looking nice and tidy without it getting all up in that junk.

Finished stripping the old paint off the frame and got some primer on it:

Got some black paint on the frame, I'm quite happy with the gloss level.. I thought it was gonna be way more Matt, but turned out a nice semi gloss which is a total fluke but looks spot on!

Started doing the final assembly of the bike tonight, installed my 5 degree advancer and adjusted the valve clearances before fitting the engine into the frame. Got the rear sets on and the headset bearings in.

Coming along nicely. It's gonna look good and run like a scalded bandit.

love this bike! you do good work.

when it had stock suspension and wheels would it bottom out on the tail and tail light with it shortened like that?

Very cool looking bike. You should be very proud. I wasn't going to say a word..until you dented the tank..my condolences btw....but I was looking at your paint job, which is really killer, and I couldn't help but think to myself..(if ya gotta shoot it again anyway)..what would it look like if the white box on the tank matched the angles of the side covers and the tail section. If you were to tilt the back white line on the tank parallel to the side cover's vertical stripe and then slant the lower white bottom line of the tank parallel to the tail section's bottom line. It would make the whole thing look like it was getting ready to "pounce". Not saying it has to be done, but just something to ponder.

Yup, It sure did! I had to cut a fairly big chunk out of the underside of the tail light bit, and heated up the lens and pushed it up as far as I could, I haven't got round to tidying it up properly yet, but I can post up a photo of it if you want?

Cheers for the positive comments, I am pretty pleased with how it's all coming together.

I hear what you're saying, that would look awesome and I will definitely look into it... Only problem I see is that the white panel on the tank follows the shape of the tank, so the bottom line of the white panel would need to change quite dramatically to match the rear panel.

I'll have a bit of a play around with it and keep you posted.
