    Bike is too tall!

I have an '83 GS650G and it's about 1.5 - 2 inches too tall for my short legs. What are my options for lowering the bike so that I can be flat footed at stop signs?

Hello mate and welcome to the GSR. before anyone else chimes in, the easiest thing is to buy boots with taller heels. That's not as much of a p!ss take as it may seem - it works, it's cheap and it won't affect your bikes looks or handling.

Ok. After that the next is to cut some foam out of your seat. Remove the cover and cut the foam with an electric bread knife. It's not easy to make a smart job but I've achieved it (for different reasons - I'm tall enough) so it ain't too hard.

Next is fit some shorter shocks. I wouldn't go more than an inch shorter with a shaftie, though it may be safe to do so (I've never done it so I can't give you a definitive). And / or you could let the fork tubes slide through the top yoke; this is free (and easy) but will alter handling (as will shorter rear shocks).

Why flat foot? That's for drunks on Herdleys.
