    Hey guys remember me??

Hello everyone. i really missed you guys anyways i just started to do alot of work to my 83' GS300L that i STILL havent finished... anyways i adjusted all the valves a few days ago and finally torqued down the head. Now all i need is a valve cover gasket. I hooked up the battery out of my KZ1000 to see if everything cranked ok after doing a full rotation with a wrench. Double checked the timing and everything turned awesome, no problems. Sounds like it has great compression as well. Tonight i figured i would take off the gas tank and seat and re-route the wiring alittle better than it was. Found that i left a whole mess for myself behind the headlight bucket last year. After some crimping/soldering i wired up my bar controls and gauges all properly. i used a spare, cut up harness to find where all the wires went. So far only having 4 wires that i cant really figure out.. theres a white/green stripe wire and a white/red stripe wire in there that i seemed to have connected on the other harness. Not sure if thats correct or not and could use some help. Also there are 2 yellow/white stripe wires and i believe 2 orange wires left hanging around. I connected those and im hoping for the best when i throw a battery in there tomorrow. Also re-installed the motor into the frame and bolted it all in. Ill have a youtube video up tomorrow of the progress. After it runs ill be on to painting and making sheet metal side covers for it. Also got the breaks working on it too. Like i said though, video will be up tomorrow.

    thanks guys,
    KT

The white/green and white/red wires are for the stator. Regarding the stator wiring, it's best to bypass the factory harness and run the stator wires directly into the R/R to avoid adding resistance into the circuit. In my opinion this mod should be considered mandatory so hope you don't skip it.

sounds good to me. I had alot of trouble with the rectifier on my 82 GS300L. ended up just getting the aftermarket one. Where do i run those wires? They are in the headlight bucket.. can i just lengthen them up to run them back to the rectifier and insert them into the clip the plugs into the rectifier? I found my valve cover gasket last night when i was about to crash so i was hoping to start it today for the first time in god knows how long i made a video of the bike last night and was gonna post it on youtube but the video was too dark and you couldnt see anything. Ill make a new one today.

Trace the stator wires leaving the engine cover and unplug them from the main harness. Then find the R/R and unplug that as well. Snip off the plugs as appropriate and wire the two devices together with the shortest and most direct wiring method. Those white/red and white/green wires can just stay in the harness, but disconnected.

alrighty, ill follow the instructions. im also having a new problem. I installed a known working signal generator from ebay in my bike since the original had wires ripped out of it. Also bought a CDI box off of there after a whole year of looking. when i had my other 300 that ran great i tested it on that bike to make sure it worked. Went for a whole ride with the box installed all the way across town and it didnt give me any trouble. I just now tested for spark since im waiting for the sealant to set up on the bottoms of the cam end caps. Cylinder 1 has awesome spark and cylinder 2 only sparks once when you hit the button and then it quits. Any ideas? I know all the ignition parts are good with the exception of maybe the coils.. never got around to testing those. Cylinder 2 does spark but it only arcs across once and then it stops. Maybe a bad plug?

still havent figured out the spark problem but all the wiring under the seat has been taken care of. New bullit connectors, and female spades. Also did alot of soldering. I just put the tank on and dumped fresh gas in. Now to wait for my battery to charge THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!!
