      Yup thats right man, she welds, she does metalworking, she does blacksmithing and can even fix an old volvo engine with busted top!

        I like it Niklas, definitely taking shape and looking good! Love the pipes...

        Wire wheels will definitely go well too. Looking forward to seeing how she turns out

          Thank you for that question. Im glad you asked it because i forgotten to tell about it. When the bike first arrived to me (i talks like it have got a own soul, it doesent, its just me thats fond of the bike and my mind just playing tricks on me) it was UGLy as sin itself. And i kind of had major "muscle" plans for the bike, thinking "big bore" and all that nonsense, so I came up with the name "belseBOB" because it would ride like the devils own superbike, and have a bobbed tail and would look the part to i tought. Stupid me!
          It turns out that i got only good natured vibes of the bike, and the engine was very smoothe and nice and...strong just like it was. And I ended up painting it in a "off-white" colors that brings your thoughts to more celestial hights than the intended "brim n´ brimstone"-theme that was intended.
          So nowdays I just call him "Bob" with a Texas accent.
          Thats the story of the name.

          And then the faith-part: Bob represents faith in myself and that i can build something nice with my own two hands with out a truckload of dollars. Just me and my "talent" so to speak. A conterweight to those "east-coast-chopper" nerds(jup I said NERDS!) that buy their gear and thinks it makes them kings.

            oh ok i see , well you could alwas paint it true fire and use reverse paint technique ??? i want mine that color now that i mentioned it lol

                I dont know what to do with the bars at the moment. Maybe I´ll keep it as it is, maybe i cut it so it becomes a dragbar, och maybe I´ll chape a whole new one. Im not sure.

                  The revival of the spoke wheels.

                  This old wheel my wife found for me while scavaging for scrapmetal to make sculptures. She gave it to me along with another one just like it wondering if i could use them.
                  I said, dont know, lets find out!
                  So what you see here is the front wheel, the rim is terrible but the one on the rearwheel looks better. So i going to do a little swap. Ill keep the brakedrum and the spokes, but take the rim from the rear to the front.
                  Then im going to use a hydraulic brakecylinder from a opel kadette 1.3 and try to construct a custom brakedrum with enough bite. That way i dont have to deal with the ugly disc-brakes.
                  Oh, right. Im going to paint it in a off white colour with pistriped gold.
                  I going to give it...lets say 3 weeks.


                  The spoke "bolts/nuts" are apparantly made of brass. So the wheel must be atleast 20-years old. I would guess its from the 60:ies though. EDIT: I have researched and im fairly certain the wheel is from a BSA bike somewhere around the time of WWII! Haha! Thats crazy!


                  Here you can see the damage the passing of time under moist conditions does long term. Not pretty!

                    Haw haw...three weeks! omg.

                    okay, its been 7 months now since my last post. Some things have actually happened with my project. One can say that i started all over again, hehe...
                    The front wire spoked whell my wife found now look like this:



                    I have put a hydralic brake instead of the old mechanical one, the brakecylinder inside the drum comes from a minicooper.
                    And i was not really happy with the paint job i did so i re-did it once again and i think the result was much better this time:




                    Just now im wainting for kawasaki gpz front fork springs and a vfr 750 oil cooler to install. Furthermore Im thinking wiseco racingpistons and rods from falco and order a new digital ingition from dyna. A lot of money...is there some oil-millionaire that want to sponsor me maybe? haha!
                    So thats it for now. Im going out to prepaire the frame for painting in dark grey wih satin clearcoat now...

                      That was the same wheel?!?!

                      Holy crap! How did you do that? The only thing I would've slated that old rusty wheel for was as decoration in a garden or something.

                      Your new paint work is also sweet. The cream / reddish brown look very good together. How did you to the inlays on the tank? Was that all done with an airbrush?! It looks very very good!

                        The I got two rusty rims from my wife and you can see pictures from the one that was the worst, it was the rear wheel. The front wheel was almost ust as bad but it had no "rust craters" in it. It was ust very rusty. So i disassembled them both and used the thicker wirespokes of the rear wheel to build a new wheel with the front rim. But before that i uset a...compressed air tool that blows sand to get rid of flaking chrome and rust( mostly rust) and then used melted tin to smoothe the surface.

                        Then i did a couple of rounds with a thick primer and the colour with 3 layers of gloss clearcoat on top. I polished all the spokes and did new threads in the wire and nipples so I could use them without worry for braking due to old worn threads.

                        The huydralic brake was pretty straight forward, just drill new holes for the cylinder and fit the brakepads inide the drum.

                        The paintjob I did with a singel action paintbrush (50 bucks) and ordinary 250 ml paintgun. Its brown-reddish base, the red flake (you cant see it in the pictures) and then the scale shadows in same brown/red colour but with a dash of gray in it. I used a simple template i made out of thick paper. Just spray and move it, then spray again, then move it...
                        And to finnish the job 5 layers of clearcoat and sandpaper between layers.

                              two more pics.

                              Okay, here is two more pics of what i did today. The first is my engine i cleaned with thinner and compressed air today. Tomorrow evening after work i will sand blast it then give it new greymetallic paint. In the backgound my frame that will also be sand blasted and given a charcoalgrey paint with satin topcoat.

                              The second picture is the rear tyre painted in cream white and tomorrow i will figure out what to do more to it. A red stripe and silverpearl topcoat possibly...i dont know yet.

                                Well Darn it!!!

                                I was just out and messured the compression, thinking - it cant be so bad...
                                Yeah right!
                                These are the mesurements:
                                cyl 1 2 3 4
                                4,5 4,7 4,5 6,4

                                in the service manual it says 7 kg is service level and 9-13 is the standard.
                                F--k!
                                Seems like I have to order me a wiseco kit...anyone whe can sell it to me?
