I will probably have to go that route, but the tank pads are all shaped for the newer bikes and not the older squarish tanks - worried that it might looks silly.

Wally, I had one of those pads on my GS450E tank before I repainted it. They make them in a clear material, and it's pretty unobtrusive.
Great project btw!

Thanx Rich - I will have a look out for a decent, not-too-modern one.
Now just waiting for decent weather to give her a good run! Had hectic storms this past weekend.

Well, it's kind of sad and good news...
The GS was sold this morning - got a good offer on it.
But, it will mean that I can start on the other GS project!

I wasn't! Happened to stumble upon a guy who was willing to pay good money for a good bike. Tested the water and he took it (over a similar model with only 18 000kms on!). The money will fund the other one.
