engine good now, time to put some effort in I suppose

Well that's all the carbs cleaned and repaired, busted stud removed and new cam cover on and engine now running properly and has no leaks.....whoopeee!!

before the old oil was washed off

and now engine after a it was warmed up.....NO leaks!!

Now I know the engine is good I am happy to spend some money (don't know if that is a good thing or not, well us scots are tight..lol) soda blaster and 2 bags of soda now purchased and on their way.
Next is to get the engine out, blasted and then painted black...I have some satin PJ1 but went to buy some more and it is not soled in the UK now....aaaaa...only the best engine paint ever invented....anyone any ideas of what is good over here in the UK for painting engines??? I believe there is some good stuff that is used for outboard engines and many colours...can't remember their name...if I do I will add to this post.

    Cheers

Yep PJ1 is now only available in matt (ugh) or gloss black. Simoniz VHT is the way to go. You want the stuff rated to 650 degrees C - for 'car manifolds and exhausts'. Available in a good range of colours including satin black. Their engine enamel isn't quite up to it (bummer, got some on my engine and it's popped a bit).

OK here is some photos of things so far, the bike is almost ready to take for a spin and see if there is any real engine issues before it comes out for soda blasting and paint

back wheel and rear caliper rebuilt and painted, have either a metmachex or katana swingarm to go on soon...also some ohlins when I know engine is good

rearsets, rebuilt master cylinder and new hose

rebuilt and painted front wheel and calipers, new hoses and mudguard mounted

        new renthals

bike from the LHS...getting there..everything is covered in dust from soda blasting out the back...looks worse than it is

rebuilt carbs to go on, will do the engine test with the old set first

slowly getting there...got the grandson tomorrow then back offshore for 3 weeks so that is about it for a while
