Ho soft are the mount bushings in an engine supposed to be?

I took my engine out last night and the front mount bushings look pretty much shot.

They are fluted and about one third of the diameter has the fluting flattened.
The rest of the mounts are solid so this makes me ownder if these rubber mounts really do anything.

There are 8 solid points and 2 with the bushings. They seems to be rubber but ar enow as hard as rock.

Still available for 12 bucks ( a good range of interchange )

So who knows are they supposed to be this hard and if so will new ones signifiganly smooth out the minimal vibration of an inline 4?

Umm... What bike? Most are solid mount, no rubber.

I have one in my hand. Perhaps they are just a fancy spacer. They smell fainly of cooked rubber.

I may just buy them for the hell of it.

Yep. Those are definitely rubber bushings. Id get new ones because they act like a spacer and fill the mounting hole. Why not, right?

New parts are never a bad idea. Go for it.
