'83 GK Zombie comes back to life!

I'll try to post a story of the 563 mile adventure to get this a bit later.

Meanwhile, GSExpress and I took a trip to save a couple of SUZUKI'S from certain death.

The shop was in the middle of a major remodeling job when this interruption came up so please excuse the disaster area.
I was not planning on pulling a bike in until it was straightened out.
But, as curiosity always gets the best of me...
here is the beginning of what was a complete basket case of an '83 GS1100GK.

    When saved:

Crammed it into the shop after throwing some stuff out of the way...

After adding water to the deceased battery, adding some quarts of Rotella and T-6 into the empty crankcase,
a gallon of gasoline into the clean as a whistle inside fuel tank, replacing some missing carb hoses,
adding a missing spark plug and connecting some wires here and there, placing on a battery charger and...

32,000+ miles showing and plenty of rust.Another Zombie comes back to life!

Tomorrow, perhaps some intake manifold O-rings and a little work on the rusty carbs.

Is that a GSX1100G I see next to it? I've really wanted to give one of those a try. I really like the look, and if it's roomy enough, it seems a suitable "short list" contender for a Rose and Josh tourer

It was a package deal, I had to save both of them.

The GSX1100G is parked next to Goldie for the time being...

The GK could be turned into a Zombie Response GS. We don't have one on the forum do we? Shouldn't someone have one in case the Zombie Apocalypse happens?

Seems to me that the 83 GK offers a great platform for a ZRV-GS.

Nice scores Eric. Two more saved from a slowly rotting death.
And more build threads - can't be better.

I keep forgetting to post a picture to share with others as to how I deal with the difficult to remove intake manifold screws.
So today, I took a pic!
Usually, you would remove the air filter box or battery/box to do this in some applications but,
I am lazy and don't give up easily.

Just simply add some extensions to your slam hammer...

Not much interest in Suzuki GS builds around these parts lately just political threads.
I have been making progress on the GK.
I'll post pic's/video's if there is any interest in Suzuki's any more around here.

Meanwhile, just continue to fight the good fight to save our Country from tyranny. Don't forget to vote!

With any luck at all, the members that only infest the OT political threads and are of NO HELP to this site might go away?
Bad joke, I know. Fat chance.

I would add to my build, but I have no parts, waiting for them to arrive, then I can move on.....

careful you don't short out the battery there with your impact wrench......

                    .
