This is so inspiring. I'm working on the same bike as you right now but not going nearly as far with it. Looking forward to seeing your progress and finished product

        Mini update this weekend...

        1) Finished carb rebuild, noting I had mounted them incorrectly last time
        2) Refurbed reg/rect, starter motor solenoid, petcock, and ignition switch
        3) Fitted new Oil Seal to kick starter engine casing
        4) Replace 2 shims and finalised valve clearance
        5) Blanked off gear indicator pick up, not going to be using this

Next job is to fit engine into frame, may attack this next weekend... getting excited now

Anyone got any good ideas for a brake upgrade???

I've heard of using Ninja callipers etc, really want to go big disks on the front (300mm?) and twin pots

Good idea mate! Any ideas what works well?

Was thinking of using as much GS as possible for now, maybe some redesign in the future when I get bored

Got some questions for you if you don't mind. Like how did you get your valve head so clean, inside and out? Did you sandblast it? It looks impeccable. Would you mind expanding on how you went about cleaning the engine block? Like which cleaners and procedures did you use? I have an incredible dirty and ****ty looking engine which I am trying to clean up at the moment.

                      Hi mate, check out http://www.icmhome.org.uk/

I went for vapour blasting I think, head, barrels and carb bodies cost about £200, worth every penny in my opinion!!

                        Few updates from yesterday.

                        1) Engine mounts and bolts etc back from platers
                        2) Installed frame over engine
                        3) Oil pressure gauge tapped into existing engine bolt

Next jobs include mounting the rear sets, front end and potentially rolling chassis. Big jobs include the brakes, wheels and loom... it's nice to see things progressing though, really enjoying the project now

Dad having a well earned cuppa in this one

You can just see the mock up of the ignition switch location, and the oil pressure gauge in this one...

                        Lovely new Tarrozi rear sets

                          Doris

What an awesome bike. I can see there is quite a few hours put down into this project. Could you tell me about the Vonzeti seat if you have used 16,5 or 20,5 cm in front? I´ve just started my GS500E 1980 cafe project, and this seat seems to fit perfect

Good stuff, man. Damn good stuff.

I just purchased a '78 GS750 of my own for $275. Tankless, but otherwise great condition. Couldn't pass up a steal like that.

I've been try to decide where to go with it, and have been leaning towards a cafe look. Was happy to find your thread.

Will definitely be keeping up with this one!
