    serial numbers

    hello!

can someone confirm these serial numbers regarding a pair of gs1000's that i am now the proud owner of:

    bike #1, i think its a '78 gs1000C
    engine: 102186
    frame: 102192

    bike #2, i think this one is a '78 gs1000C frame with a '79 gs1000N engine
    engine: 122229
    frame: 106525

lastly, was there ever a cast alloy wheeled GS1000 model with a single disc brake?

    #2
The engine and frame number wont match on these bikes..the VINs ran consecutively but the engine numbers werent matched to any particular VIN...

    MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
    1978 GS 1000 E, 1979 GS 1000 S, 1973 Yamaha TX 750, 1977 Kawasaki KZ 650B1, 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing, 1983 CB 650SC Nighthawk, 1972 Honda CB 350K4, 74 Honda CB550

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Bike one was the 2191 one built and bike 2 was the 6524 one. As for single disc mag rims..Ive never seen one unless it was one caliper missing. The single discs were wire rimmed 1000s.

i know numbers aren't supposed to match frame to engine, i just wanted confirmation on what i've researched.

          Serial Numbers

All I know is that mine don't match. In fact, mine is, incorrectly I think, titled with the engine number instead of the frame.

Better check and get that corrected at the DMV..May cause future issues like for insurance payoff or in selling it. The VIN on the title should match the VIN on the steering head.
