    83 gs1150es

I thought I would post some pics of the newest addition to my garage, and the source of the most current drain on my time and cash. The frame is #'d 363 and the engine is 127. It has 32,000 miles on it and was stock except for the V&H pipe - jetting.

          Very very nice.

Any plans, other than riding, followed by more riding, and concluding with some riding home to admire in the shed ---- with a little drinkie to celebrate the experience.:dancing

I can see why you posted in the projects section, that thing is a stinking heap, way to far gone to even attempt to get into decent shape..pity

I think you should drop me a PM with your details so I can arrange to come remove the thing from your yard, no charge, will do it out of the kindness of my heart, to help a fellow GSR member.

YOU PEOPLE ARE DOING THIS TO ME ON PURPOSE, AREN'T YOU......

Beautiful bike! What's the other one hiding in the garage in the pic? I didn't realize the 1150ES came out the same year as the 1100ES.

The headders need paint... probably some simple green around the sprockets and swingarm. Poor bastard.

                        Learn somethin new every day...

There were a limited number of 1983 GS1150's sold...only real difference being the lack of evap canister and related crap. This bike has all 1983 ID tags, is registered as an 83, has the appropriate D in the vin# as an 83. If you look through parts listings for the 1150's, some list the model from 83-86 and some 84-86. I dont know how many were actually sold, but as stated earlier the engine is the 127th built and the frame is 363rd. I was skeptical too but believe it or not you can find info relating to the early release of 1150's as a 1983 model.

As far as resto/rebuild, I have rebuilt the carbs, replaced and upgraded the charging system, replaced the chain/sprockets, new starter clutch, + tons of regular maint..wiring etc.
