    1983 GS750E ideas?

I have a GS750E that my dad bought brand new in 86, he is the original owner. It sat from 2002 until last summer when we rebuilt the carbs and had them synced up. We noticed one of the pistons not firing, shut the bike off, and noticed oil in the crankcase with the oil. I haven't had time to work on it until now, but I believe I have the problem figured out. But when i get it going we have a few ideas for it.

We want to keep it fairly original but strip some of the unnecessary pieces off. i.e. -Front head light (swap to a round head light, possibly GS1100e light?)
    -Small round tach and speedo
-4-1 exhaust with a small muffler dumped underneath the frame
-Possibly removing the front fender or making it smaller
-lowering the handlebars, like more drag bar style.
    -smaller blinkers
If anyone has any suggestions, questions, or ideas concerning this type of stuff, I'd be more than happy to to hear them and check it out!

    Thanks

Yup it would be helpful to see the present look of the bike. If its decent stock shape then it may be best to let it be but show us first please.

        Cheers,

Ya, I'll be tinkerin with it tomorrow and I'll get some pictures on here. It's in great condition really for being nearly 30 years old. I wanna leave it somewhat original to keep that overall "essence" of it but I know I wanna change the headlight and handlebars atleast.

Is this the look your going for ? I'm getting kind of a street fighter vibe from your description.

Hi. I just picked up the same bike and have the same questions. Did you even do the handle bar, guage, and headlight mods? Thanks

mine was left stock, except the paint, and seat cover

Are you doing a restoration project of some kind on a GS? Let everyone see what you are doing by posting the details here.

Bill, you can grab some stock headlight ears and run a round light if you want the stock look. Or buy some headlight brackets from any number of ebay stores. Depends on what you are going for. I'm going the latter route to compensate for the upgraded front end Im running.
Grab a triple tree off an older model gs1000. The diameters of the forks are the same, and they have bar risers.

+1! I'll have to look into his threads. Curious what front and rear end he's got on there... Looks good

Mix of gsxr, rf900 and 1200 bandit parts. Some aftermarket too.
