Hi, been away from the forum for a little while (family stuff), but i have made a major mistake & now i have a major problem!

I have been soaking the snapped brass bolt (on the float bowl), see my earlier post, with Plus Gas. After several doses, I used a stud extractor & tried to remove what was left of the bolt. As I screwed it in, I've split the aluminium casting.

          I could spit!!!

So, does anyone have a spare one? I'm reliably informed the carbs are VM26ss

          Help!!!!

Post up a picture or parts fisce with the # of the part and I'm sure someone could help out. Shipping from the states might be a killer.

Great project, I was actually watching this bike on the auction site when I was looking! Looking fantastic!

                        Wow thanks for the responses!

                        Photos as promised

Charlie G & tkent02: I'm not sure of the part number, but it is the float bowl i need. I think the shipping cost might be prohibitive, but if anyone has one lying about, I'll price up the cost & see.

                        Hampshiredog:

I think its the number 3 carb? Certainly its the one third from the left (as you sit on the bike.

Jv2: Cheers, I'm really pleased with the bike, lets just hope i can getting it running. It was pretty original (albeit not the colours or exhaust!), fingers crossed it will be back on the road by this summer

Sorry Cowboyup, missed you off my last post.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm looking at the post now (well I will be when I've finished typing this)

Yes , thats #3 and it looks like what I have. I've put some penetrating oil on the apprioate pieces and will try to get one off. looks like it was a bugger!

It was. In fact I said something similar to that when I split it. Still it was my own fault, I guess it was never gonna move. I should have drilled it out, rather than relied on a stud extractor.

Right...bit of an update in the form of some photos.

Before we get to that, can i just say thanks again to Charlie G, the float bowl issue has been sorted in the form of a replacement all the way from the states. Photos to follow detailing the carb rebuild.

So, if you recall my bike may have been owned by Prince (purple tank & gold wheels)

After many months I've finally got the 'tin ware' back from my mate the sprayer.

                                Before:

Looks ok at a distance, but up close it was a bit rough.

                                During the process:

                                Finished result:

The finish is fantastic with a really deep shine (sorry about the quality of the photos) Cannot wait to see them on the bike, but i have resisted the temptation to mock them up (for now anyways)
