GS1150 project
Not sure if I'm serious about this one. $1250.00 for a bike that is torn down due to just a broken cylinder stud? I spoke to John and he's sticking to his story of the motor being rebuildable. Stored poorly aparently means that it was kept dry but allowed to get dirty inside. Also, the gas tank is not salvagable and the original pipes are MIA. Lots of aftermarket spare body parts and other spares are included though. Aftermarket doesn't impress me much though as I'd be racking up the cost of original parts the entire time I look it over.

$500.00
$500 sounds about right to me as well. I think I'll drop the subject though as he seems to be selling what the bike could be vs what it is. I didn't get the impresion that much less than asking price would get my trailer loaded up. My Banshee was advertised as similar condition but when I dragged the mess home I found a blown crank and a cylinder wall that looked like it once contained the piston that destroyed the crank. This GS sounds slightly better but I don't think the whole story will come out till the bottom end is opened by someone other than me.

Wait one minute!
There is a forum member near LA that says that they all are worth $1,000 or more and half of that just for the head.
Buy it and sell it to him.
Double your money and he can quadruple his.
Win, win.

worth
If I undertake this project it would be to compleet a motorcycle.
I have no doubt that the worth of the motorcycle and all the spares would add up fast. Problem is the whole defunct mass of aftermarket plastic and parts would only end up stuck in my shed. Trying to sell off all the extra bits that no one remembers would be imposible. The exhaust for example might still be worth $100.00 but it would look like an old piece of junk on the freshly rebuild motorcyle and no one would pay to put it on theirs either. I'd be left to purchase a new exhaust just like it for hundreds more or a good example of the original set for almost $1000.00. Basically I'd only be interested in a good deal on the good bones of the motorcyle at a price that would leave me comfortable in throwing the rest in a dumpster.
