Nice progress! Starting to look like a bike now! And not an land yacht

Those pegs are pretty cool I have to say. Do you have a similar peg to replace the bike pedals that are on there now for the driver? And plans to remove the highway pegs hanging off the case savers?

The seat on the white bike looks to be the stock '82+ 850G & 1100G seat.

PS I'm jealous of your shop / airplane hanger? to work in. Keep up the great work on returning a beautiful bike back to new condition.

          Thanks, everyone!

Yes, I have the oem (as far as I know) footpegs for the driver. Rubber is still good on them too. Maybe they aren't though! Ha.

I was thinking about leaving the pegs. They are Suzuki pegs (has Suzuki lettering in them).

It's the my dads shop, where I work at. It was built for working on semi trucks, buts it's a machine shop for metalworking. In the next few months we will be getting a new CNC machine, and eventually a Swiss (so we can do more square items) which will be great because all I need are dimensions and I can whip up hard to find parts.

          I added my location.

Would anyone know if OE GS1100E handle bar mirrors would screw into my 1100G?

I'm still in the front fork emblem sticker (number 37 P/N 68211-49420), '82+ gs1100G or 850g seat, pillion seat handle (number 2 P/N 46211-49430), and some OE reflector lights for the front forks (number 34 P/N 35950-49080).

No detrimental stuff, but still wanted.

            Thanks.

Yes they will. With the exception of Yamaha I believe, all the Japanese bikes of this era used the same size and pitch mirror stems. I had a set from a KZ400 on my GS for a while. Hated the bulky stock rectangles.

Would you have a better recommendation then? I have no problem staying with the circle mirrors I have now as they are in good shape, just entertaining the idea.

                  Pictures.

                  Got the footpeg/muffler brackets in.

They needed a little TLC, although pretty good to begin with.

One I have sand blasted, and polished using a polishing wheel. The other hasn't been touched yet. The pegs themselves need to get sanded and I'm going to paint them. Looks very nice on the bike! Mega exciting!

                    Very shiny peg brackets! Nice.

As far as mirrors, I currently am using a set of Ken Sean bar ends. They work really well, don't vibrate at all, and look great. Actually seeing whats behind me is a plus.

The stock mirrors would droop whenever I accelerated hard, and were useless at speed from vibrations. I picked up the KZ one's off of Craigslist, because they were cheap. Little round jobbies, they worked OK, but I saw a lor of my elbows. I love the Bar Ends I have on there now.

Got the brackets on (for the most part). Getting some new allen head screws for the muffler mounting hole. It ended up being quite a bit of work, actually. Had to drill out pretty much all new holes for screws, re-sand blast many times, and these brackets don't have the adjustable brake pedal stopper, so the brake was too long and would rub up against the bracket. Ended up sanding down the back corner. It's pretty much an exact fit now, so even with the stopper, the bracket itself acts as one.

                        Otherwise, here's some pictures!

I'll have to put a picture of it from a little more distance tomorrow.

Without all the screws, brake pedal, and foot peg.

With screws, brake pedal, and foot peg,

                        Otherside,

Got the Renthal Ultralow bars. All I can say is looooow. Can't wait to try them out. Might be able to put them on before going to the Rock Falls raceway this weekend.

Sanded, sand blasted, and spray painted the rear turn signal brackets. They were supposedly off of a 82 850g, but they aren't the correct brackets. Ongoing to have to use washers to get them out far enough so they don't ride on the fender piece.

Sanded and sand blasted the rear turn signals themselves. No more scratches and ugliness.

Also, took apart the little light assembly for the high/low, neutral, turn, kickstand, etc. and replaced all the lights. The high beam light was out but replaced them all. They are nice and bright, and were surprisingly easy to replace.

No pics this time sorry! Soon!

Here's the bars. Ran into a few complications such as the bars hitting the tank when all the way turned, but we were able to get around that. Also, the cables don't fit as well behind the headlight now, making them bend weird and pop out, so hopefully I can figure out something.

                            Pics,

                            Original handle bars,

                            New handle bars,

It's a very nice bar, and looks great. I have the slight lean I wanted now. I like how they look without the bar cover in the middle.

Thanks, next on the agenda is the rear turn signals!

A real seat will have you sitting higher too. (That's quite the low-riding saddle currently )
Don't know your braking system's condition ... but with these older braking systems, it's wise to not neglect them (and LOTS of folks upgrade to stainless steel brake lines). AND original brake lines should be replaced periodically too! (there's danger in a neglected braking system failing or even seizing ) So when you next replace brake lines ... you can eliminate that extra kink in the upper line, by shortening said line.
                                nice bike alright
ps yea, I nixed the mid-bar cover too
