Thanx guys! Feels cool after all the graft to get to this point. Tons of small things to do before it can go off for electrical stuff.

Don't really want to send the freshly painted tank with - should the guy be able to get it started with an auxiliary tank of sorts I suppose?

But time is really in short supply, part-time courses and studying for tests will take most of my time.

I am aiming to at least ride it before winter hits us!

After it is up and running I still have the big job of jetting the carbs properly.
But I will leave set-up as is for now until it is in running shape.

LOVE that exhaust Wally. The bike looks really good. Great job so far!

The bike is cool, the exhaust is awesome. I now hate my exhaust and it will have to go -so thanks a lot Wally

          Thanx and sorry...

Don't worry Wally, I still prefer my exhaust

But yours is definitely quite awesome!

He shouldn't need your tank if he just has to run the bike for a short time, I do carb tuning etc. with a little whipper snipper tank hanging from the ceiling, holds enough fuel to run for 10 min's or so if I need it.

Finally, some shots of the clear coat on the tank.

Struggle to capture it with the phone, but hope to take some proper shots once it is all done. Tank has only been polished here - not color sanded or buffed.

And a few with my "style" helmet.

Also swapped wires on RHS control switches.

Making slow progress. Hope to have it with electrical guy in about 2 weeks time.

Very cool Wally. Would love to see this one with spokes too. Nice work.

                    Thanx.

Sci85, I initially considered that, but finding stuff here at decent prices Is near impossible. Maybe I'll have some luck down the round.

I am now slightly losing my cool...

Had the bike sit for a week an noticed small oil leaks from the sump.
So I took the exhaust off, wiped sump down, rechecked the torque settings of the bolts and all 100% plus it has a new gasket.

Sat for 2 days with no drips and this morning:

Going to have to drain the oil, drop the sump, check that the gasket seats properly.

Would it be a better bet to use silicone gasket maker?

I am not sure if the bolts aren't gripping correctly to make a proper seal?

Realllllllyyyy want to get this sorted to get the electrics done and get the bike going!

                            Man that's frustrating Wally!

Couple of things... is the sump gasket a genuine one? Are you sure it's the sump gasket that's leaking?

Some things I've found on mine that might be showing this up... I've been using fibre sump plug washers and have found they're prone to compressing too much which effectively loosens the sump plug enough to start a small weep. Next time I'm going copper again.

Also, I have pinched the oil filter cover O ring a couple of times which stops it sealing properly and it drips out of there as well.

Anyway, just some thoughts on it from me...

All original Suzuki gaskets all round (the ones that needed replacing).

I can't figure out exactly where it is coming out. There are drips underneath the sump.
Either way, I will have to drain the oil, drop sump and take filter over off, clean them all again and reinstall.

I used exactly the same bolts that came out, in same positions, right torque settings.

I have to get it right, other wise it is going to be a continual issue.

Worst case scenario would be to pull the motor and have my neighbour redo the threaded holes again...

Before doing that, degrease and clean it all up so it's all clean and dry, then wipe talcum powder over all the sealing surfaces including the sump plug.

That will show up really soon where the oil's actually coming from.

It could even be coming from under the sprocket cover... I've done that to myself before when over oiling the chain early on after the rebuild.
