Have a look at the parts fiche, the second bit of the part number will give you the bolt diameter and length.

Do you mean larger diameter or longer? They should all be the same diameter but there are different lengths required.

Diameter...I thought it is weird. I know about the lengths. I am guessing it was just held in place by the gasket sealant. After I cleaned the threads, they no longer fit. Just too loose.

Bizarre... maybe someone stripped them out and has tapped a larger diameter to fix it?1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Off for exhaust tomorrow.
Still have to get 2 bolts for cam cover...
Tons of stuff left to do on bike before it can go for electrical.

Did you have to get the threads shortened on that swingarm axle? I want to get rid of those horrid brackets that mount the foot pegs and passenger pegs but it seems they also act as a bit of a spacer for the swing arm bolts :s
Great build by the way

Hi niko, yes I did.
I took it to an engeneering shop to shorten and retread it.
The risk of cutting it skew or messing it up was too great for me.
It was shortened by about the thickness of the nut.
Hope it helps!

Got first coat of paint on! And for me it is a major achievement!
A bit streaky, but sure it will be better with next coats.
Photos don't show it, but paint has metallicy glitter in it.

No idea, sorry...
I bought it last year for one of my retro fridge projects. It was a new auto paint shop that had great opening specials.
Picked it out of a color book, but it was just labelled with the paint shops label on the tin.

Got my engine emblems today.
And it has a self-adhesive backing, so that takes care of the "how to stick it down" issue.
Also gave the tank another coat yesterday evening.
That'll be about it for the week - away for the weekend and stuff to do in the evenings.

Good stuff Wally, still leaves me wondering what to do with mine though... haha

Will try and take some shots tonight - had to let it dry a bit first.
Came out loads smoother than first coat!
