Picked it up this morning, gave it a quick start and it all works well and sounds good (for not being tuned yet), but I am a bit disappointed that the guy didn't tuck the wires away neatly as I asked - he thought the side covers were going back on.

So a bit of work for me to do to tidy it up, but at least everything works and she starts!

A bit smokey, but she sat for over 2 years with old oil in.

Going to be a week or so before I get to it.

We are moving house soon and I will be losing my beloved double garage space, so I am trying to finish as many unfinished projects as I can over the next month or so.

Project 1 is painting the 50s fridge which has been standing disassembled for over 2 years...while the weather is still OK!

Priming the body this weekend, then paint next weekend.

I have to get oil for the pods, give the tank a quick clean, hook up fuel and vacuum lines and then we should be good to fire up. Maybe I can sneak in some time over the weekend...

Got clutch cover and cable back in last night. Also got some sleeving from a member on a local muscle car forum I belong to.

Getting some oil for the pods tomorrow so hopefully I will get it to fire up over the weekend. Gave tank a quick clean again and cleaning petcock.

I did notice both the caliper and master cylinder have sprung leaks...

Will have to check that out next weekend.

Going to try and neaten wiring in the week.

In between waiting for primer to dry on my fridge project, I started relocating the wires.

Also oiled the pods, installed petcock, plumbed vacuum and fuel line, so if all goes well, she will fire up tomorrow! Still some odds and ends to do: fit chain, tune carb, hook up gauge lights and fix connectors to flasher unit (which I broke...).

                Good stuff Wally!

Gotta say though that if I had someone do electrical work for me and left it like that I wouldn't be happy! Even if the sidecovers were going on there's no need to leave them flapping in the breeze like that...

That green ground wire is shocking! It should run up to the top tube, then down inside the side tube out of sight... and it's not going to get a good ground where it is either as it's on a painted surface... It also should be black without the yellow insulation on the ring terminal to blend in better... Suzuki grounds are black or black with white tracer...

Just my 2 cents though... so feel free to disregard if it works for you

                  Understand my frustration and disappointment?
It took 2 months to get done, plus I had to rent a trailer to collect, so I was just ready to pack up and go by that stage...

I don't have the knowledge or tools o have done this and usually he is very tidy.
Not sure what his deal was this time around.

I will replace the ground wire later. I just want to get it running.
                  My frustration levels are done!

Understand the frustration for sure Wally! Especially if he normally does good work... that's just disappointing...

As for the need to ride it... yeah I know that feeling well!

Got fuel, filled the tank, primed the carbs and

                      NOTHING...

Changed petcock out, as first one was dripping.
Checked float bowls - it gets fuel, checked plugs, cleaned and there is no spark.
So that means somewhere it goes missing.
Right hand coil gets a bit hot with cranking, left one cold.

Had a backfire or two through the exhaust.
Had a brief fire initially and then never again...

                      Cheesed off beyond belief...

                        Gaaaaah! Man that's frustrating...

So you definitely get 12V to both coils?

Do you know if your electrical guy did things like checking the spark plug caps out?

If it's cranking I'd suggest your fuse is ok unless he did something weird with it.

                          Haven't checked the volts.

I know he had trouble getting both coils to stay running.
                          Fuse is still in tact.

I just pulled plugs out and grounded to check for spark, of which there was none. He had brhe bike running for long sections testing coils.

I will give him a call tomorrow...

That sounds weird... he had troubles getting them to stay running but he had it running to test them? I wonder if it's as simple as a connector has come loose during the trailer ride back?

One coil would cut out after a few mins. He managed to get it fixed.
I do trust what he says, despite the untidy work.

I will have to make some time to check.

Moving hiuse end of June, so i am trying to get as much done before the move.
