    1977 GS400X basket case project

    I have this now:

Discover the magic of the internet at Imgur, a community powered entertainment destination. Lift your spirits with funny jokes, trending memes, entertaining gifs, inspiring stories, viral videos, and so much more from users.

(Plus many boxes of parts, almost everything is there.)

It's in my garage, I've mounted the engine. This is my first bike, and my first project. I've picked a big one. I have done some motorized bicycles, some mopeds, scooters. Pretty handy with things that go, but I expect I'll need some advice somewhere along the way.

    Wish me luck!

Welcome to the forums! Sure looks like you've got your hands full on that one

Chuck up a g'day post over in the GS Owners forum while you're at it so you can get your mega welcome which you will find very handy...

Whoa boy you've got a long road a head of you! Looks like fun though. Welcome to the forum.

Digging the spoked drum wheels. I've been looking to find a pair of those for my project.

      Good luck!

I'll have to take pictures of some of the boxes and their contents. The biggest problem I'm going to have isn't missing parts, it's random parts thrown into boxes and I have no idea what they are or where they go, or if they're even for this bike.

You wanna get the two manuals from BassCliff's site (Haynes and Clymer) and then once you start sorting through the parts and posting pic's etc. you'll find it won't be too hard to work out what's what.

Post up pictures and give points for the first right answer. We love a good challenge and some competition.

I have a GS400 dealer service manual, but I suspect those others will be more informative. I have the original owner's manual as well, for what that's worth.

Just added pictures of my boxes of parts to the album. http://imgur.com/a/1kJLd

Go to one of the oem parts suppliers website and print out the various part diagrams for your bike. Very helpful during reassembly. You can also tell what parts you are missing.

Good news everyone! My friend came over and helped me get the wiring harness and coils on. I've got spark on the right cylinder, but not the left. "Not the left" could be as simple as the really fouled plug there, or not having the ignition harness crossed properly.
