    engine swap

    anyone know what othe suzuki engine would slot almost straight in a gs550 frame? iv been handed a dud bike that need a new engine. please no smart ass remarks.

    Not to be rude but what year?
    1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
    1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

      try this

      If you can find an early air/oil cooled GSXR750('85-'89 I think) they will fit with an offset sprocket set,and new engine mounting plates and spacers.the only downside is having to re-wire to get the ignition/igniter working and as far as I remember they have an electronic tacho instead of a cable,or maybe measure up a set of GSX750 crankcases to see if they will fit.Not really much use I admit but it's the best I can ome up with-good luck in your search.Johnny

        This is a pretty nice place, doubt you'll get too many. Never know though. But if you're willing to change all that and do some welding, what wouldn't fit?

            yeah im willing to weld n stuff, iv heard a 2001 bandit engine is a good prospect?

              If its an 85 how would you get a carb rack to fit the beefed up central part of the frame
              there is a huge space between the left and right carb on a stock config.
