As amazing as the first set of body work was, I think you really nailed it with the new tank and tail section. It looks more era correct and yet modernized at the same time. I love seeing the progress pics. It really highlights the amount of time and effort required. Your fabricating/mechanical skills are truly awe-inspiring..beautifully done.

This is fantastic. But be honest here, is the real reason you are redoing it is to a have a tail with a bigger bum stop you don't fly off the back??

Love the new muffler too, looks much better than the other one that was on there.

The bike does not look so good anymore and I want get more oldschool look to it.
I like the look of the Nico Bakker race bikes in the seventies and I have tried to get the same look to my bike though with some modern touch.

The muffler and the whole exhaust was the first exhaust I did to this bike. It looks better and because it´s 4-2-1 it´s provides better torque.

Next thing to do is the engine modifications.

Fantastic work! I loved the old bike, but the "new" one is absolutely SICK. You've captured the best "old school" look for these bikes, and your skills and mods put it totally over the top.

Just when I start to feel like I'm getting proficient at this stuff, I'm reminded that there are many levels of skill beyond mine. You, sir, are at the top.

The frame and the engine has taken apart. I have cut some old fasteners from the subframe and painted the whole frame with VHT`s Roll Bar satin black paint.

I have examined the cylinder head and the exhaust valve guides are out of the tolerances.
I was lucky to make some good e*ay deals. I got new over size valves (24mm ex and 28,5mm in), titanium spring collars and Kibblewhite valve guides in good price.
Next week I need to take the cylinder head with new parts to the machine shop.
Then I need to open the cylinder bores in the engine block.
I have ordered all new transmission ball bearings and the crankshaft ball bearing.
So far all looks good to get the bike finished before summer...

How much HP are you projected to have from this engine when completed?
1981 GS650G , all the bike you need

I'm more interested about torque, but something 150 - 170 rwhp.

Opened the upper engine case for the bigger cylinder block. It takes about three hours with air die grinder. Now there is at least .004" gap between sleeves and case.
                      Is that enough?

As said several times, if can't get better, but it did. A rolling billboard for quality.
