1978 Gs1085 compliments of Popy Yosh, Bandit 1200 wheels and front end, VM33 Smoothbores, Yosh exhaust, braced frame, ported polished head
1983 Gs1100ESD, rebuild finished! Body paintwork happening winter 2017:D

I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.

Looks awesome! I'm glad to see that so much more work is being on on her. Very impressive! I hope my little things done to the tank helped out. I'm sure it could be sanded/smoothed better. =^.^=

EDIT: Looks like you are at an Airplane Hangar. That's wicked.

Yup working in my hanger at the college where I teach.

The tank is in pretty bad shape so all the work you did was removed to access the total damage. Attempted to weld it up but there were so many holes on the bottom that another plan has risen.

The holes were patched with fuel proof epoxy and aircraft fuel tank sealer. The sides were faired and the emblem recesses filled in. The pinch welds were filled in flush andnow there is going to be 2-3 layers of carbon fiber layer up then clear coated. The same carbon fiber will be going on the front fender and tail fin.

                        Looks great.
Did you paint or powder the frame?
I have a set of 29 smoothbores that sure could use your carb cleaning methods.

Frame was painted with, Interlux Perfection, 2 part polyurethane marine paint, I do my own painting as I have access to a booth
Powder coat around here is expensive, I was quoted $400

Pretty labour intensive getting the carbs cleaned, about 8 hours work just for disassembly, cleaning and paint.

                          Cheers,
                          Daryl

Great looking bike. Good work. I'd like to see a picture of the FJ.

Things are looking great. Your build is very similar to mine (minus my progress has been much slower!) and it looks great. It's good to see someone moving along quickly with similar ideas. I'm sure you'll be done before me so you'll have to let me know how it rides. Where did you get your rear shocks? How long are they? I'm thinking of putting 14-15in shocks to get some swingarm angle back after putting on my front forks and lowering it about 3in in the front. It will take away some rake but a balance must be found. Hence, why I'm excited to see yours get finished so you can tell me about her performance ha. Anyway, good job again and keep up the good work.
