Need to identify gaskets ?
I am in the process of a top end rebuild on my 1978 GS750. The gasket kit I bought has 4 round rubber covered washer looking gaskets. I have the ones from the tear down but for the life of me am not sure where they go? It would appear that they go on the head gasket in the 4 corners as they fit perfectly and that is the only place I can find that they would go. Just to make sure I thought I would ask here if anyone could confirm or deny my assumption. I should have looked closer during the tear down. I appreciate any help.Tags: None

A quick look at the parts fiche (hint, hint) shows that they might be part #13.

Looked there already and in the service/repair manual and #13 is the copper washers that go under the chrome cap nuts. I just found a picture of the OEM head gasket and the 4 seals are in the packaging so I believe they go in the four areas I thought they went. Thanks.

Are you saying that they are separate gaskets that go where #7 is pointing?
If so, it appears that you might not have a Suzuki gasket set.
Good luck with that.

The early 750's indeed had rubber centered washers that fit in all four corners of the head gasket.
They are even in the picture that steve linked to. The number 7 is pointing right to one of them.
Some aftermarket gaskets have them loose and the stock Suzuki ones can come loose.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

All of the OEM gaskets I have seen (which hasn't really been all that many), they were not separate.
Looking at the picture, the #7 is pointing to the whole head gasket, not a separate rubber-covered piece, and it's called: GASKET, CYLINDER HEAD, and costs $106.11 at G&S Suzuki (retails for $143.78), so I do believe that's the whole gasket.

Bill is correct. The kit I got for the 78 750 was an OEM Suzuki still sealed in the package and they were seperate from the gasket itself. put them on and then the gasket centers around them.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Thanks for your confirmation. I had figured that was the way they went into the four corners. Like I said they were on the original head gasket but I didn't pay close attention. Thanks again to all for your input.
