    Where do I begin again?

Greetings everyone! My name's Gray and I'm working on my first complete rebuild of an '81 gs1000.

Well, I just repainted my frame and now I'm ready to start putting her back together, only trouble is I don't know where to start...

Obviously, Final Drive and front forks will be first - but what do I do next? The engine is still being worked on so it will likely be second to last (right behind the tank and fenders which I'm painting).

I have a Haynes manual, but it doesn't really cover ground-up reassembly...
Stupid mistake not remembering the order in which I ripped it apart, that would've saved me some grief!

Any help you guys can render is much appreciated =]

There are several options, and different methods work for different people.

Personally, I get the frame sorted, then attach swinging-arm, suspension, yokes, rear wheel, forks, front wheel, mudguards, engine, brakes.

I figure a rolling chassis is easier to work with, and I like to get big stuff back on the frame - it leaves me more space in the workshop.

Right on, thanks! And I agree with you on that, that's why I'm starting with the wheels... Appreciate it =]

I must remember this...for at some point, I will do a REBUILD.

Have a look at my rebuild thread, you can follow the order I took, if you wish, the only thing I would have done different is to have put the engine in sooner, but since it was not ready I put it in when I had the opportunity.
