I also changed the clutch springs in the 1100 engine and shot another coat of black at it.

          Ok, update time...

I guess I didn't need new shoes after all. Compared them to the new ones and hardly a mm difference.

Finally got the engine out ! ! !

Did some much needed cleaning on the frame. Unfortunately previous owners have done some touch up rattle can on the frame. So I will do a little touch up myself and plan to strip and paint the whole frame next winter.
1100 is ready to be installed...

I will drop off wheels at a local bike shop to have my new tires mounted and speed balanced on Monday on my way home from work. I also got a line on a slotted rotor that I should have somewhere toward the end of the week.
              Progress progress progress.

Ah! Another brain fart! Just ordered side cover gaskets...
Threw in a new chain with the order to. Although my chain isn't very old I did notice a few O'rings behind the sprocket cover, so why push my luck. Can't say I really liked the O'ring chain anyway...

Ok, so while I'm waiting for a few things, gaskets and tires mounted. I've been fishing around here and reading a crap ton of threads and info. One topic caught my interest and made me wonder. I have always had a pretty stiff clutch, even before I changed the springs. I'm thinking that my routing is wrong. I ordered a new cable. I also have spent the last hour researching the routing. Nothing... I have looked through 3 yes three service manuals and nothing on cable routing. Anyone have a picture or 3 of the proper cable routing for a T or probably an E. likely any 16 valve gs would have a very similar routing.
Plus I already know that when I replaced my throttle cable, I got the routing wrong. It idles up a bit when I turn all the way to the right. Any info would be great.

get this manual, and in the back it will show you the cable routing

                        hope this helps

starting around page 253 of the manual

Oh this is fun. When you considered this project, did you feel comfortable with the transmission and brakes for the extra power and weight? You wrote of a slotted disk and am I to understand you are tweaking the gear ratio? Thank you for posting all of the photos and progress reports as the T nation watches and day dreams.

No change to the gears. Bone stock '80 1100 engine with 20k on the clock. All new, but stock, brakes. She will stop on a dime as she always has. I have no worries about that.
