I think you've got a nice bike there Sonny!
It looks a whole lot better than a LOT of what I've seen start in here. Your lucky, and good job!

I think red wheels would be sharp. Can you do the engine head a red powder coat...same as the wheels?
But GREEN? Won't look too much like Christmas? Maybe another color, some kind of jazzy black with a red accented star or something (flames) on the sides of the tank, etc....

the red is more of a brain fart that i'm still trying to decide if it's a shart or not. and no, i sure hope it wouldn't look like christmas, the green will be flat and military green. the green and black is definite, the wheels are just a thought so far.

btw, anyone want to make fun of me while also telling me wehre the speedo cable goes? (not the gauge end....)

Oh yeah, well Y'all suck, ya big doodie-head!

RE5 would be my guess, can almost see enough of it to make out for sure it's model. And is that (red) a 944 Porsche or an RX7?
And I think I see a RX7 parked just outside the garage.
What motor you running in your (shifter?) cart?
I didn't look very closely at it.

Hell of an improvement from what ya towed home, that's for sure!

P.S., Nissan Pathfinder as tow vehicle?
Big Tex single axle bike trailer?
          Trek carbon fiber road bike?

How'd I do? Did I get any right?

          Also, WELCOME!

              Speedo

No sure if yours is the same as my 550 (or any other 80's bike I've ever owned, but the speedo stirs between one of the fork legs and the front wheel hub. There is a chance though that yours was removed by a PO.

Hoping to get a bunch of the litle things wrapped up this weekend and get started digging into the carbs and cleaning the fuel tank.

Finally had a little time to get some things done on the bike today. pulled the tank and carbs, I'm really not even comfortable calling what I found in them "fuel" soooooo much rust in it. Tank will get drained and cleaned later this week and hopefully carbs will get completely cleaned and ready to go over the weekend.

Pulled of the starter to get it cleaned and rebuilt.

hacked about 3/4 of the oem mufflers off, gave it a nice look and I'm sure will be pretty loud now. I'll get some picks after I slap some high temp paint on and put it all back on the bike.

Hoping to have it back on the road sometime next week. we'll see how many issues decide to show themselves.

Not sure this is even flammable any more....

possible reason the bike runs like crap? lol

and here comes the fun part. first up we have a lovely picturesque view through the fuel level sensor port...

and if you'll kindly direct your attention this way, we have a large collection of paint flakes...

And last but not least on our tour of the fuel tank, we have a nice big......dinosaur dump?

this was just after the first flush, there is more in there. honestly I have no idea how the poor thing even ran after seeing all of this.

finally getting rolling on a bunch of stuff. got carbs cleaned and reassembled with new hardware. checked valve clearance, or lack thereof and need to go see if I can snag some locally tomorrow. ordered a set of brushes from ricks. have some caswell on the way. and should be able to button up most of it this weekend. so many small things.....

Well, slowly but surely I guess. Got the valve job done, thanks to a local that had all the shims. got the dynatek coils mounted and wired up.

rebuilt and cleaned the starter, however still not cranking....motor turns over by hand easily, starter turns by hand easily, and I applied juice to it outside of the bike and it spun, but doesn't seem to want to turn the motor over. wondering if the solenoid is on the way out.

got the stock exhaust that I cut off, painted and back on and finally put the speedo cable on.

I think the exhaust turned out pretty decent for a $7 project. hopefully I can get this starter issue sorted so I can fire it up and hear how obnoxious it is now.
