The FZR 1000 is moving along nicely, and I had some funds in reserve so I thought I'd take a step in getting one of my dream bikes. Blue and White 1150ES.
Larry (Irrace) here on the forums was advertising a complete rolling chassis for sale so I called him up and got to chatting. Went over to his garage and boy was I in for a pleasant surprise.
Not one, not two, but three beautiful 1150's in his stable. 2 of which were ES models. One was Red and white and the other dark blue and white. The third was an equally stunning E model. All had been tastefully modded with pipes and the like but stayed true to what the bike is all about.
His garage was unfortunately packed at the time so I wasnt able to get really good pictures of his show stoppers.
He took me around to his extra storage facility and I was like a kid in a candy store. GS 1100/1150 stuff everywhere.
Larry is a true lover of the 1150, has drag raced and had the fastest street class bike (showed me the plaquard and pictures), and even went to the same highschool as my father! How cool and what a small world.
Now back to the chassis...
We quickly agreed on a price and how could I say no with an engine waiting in my garage
Originally when I thought chassis I was like ok, frame, forks, arm and wheels. But Larry provided me with basically a complete bike less the engine.
After taking the wheels off to fit it in my trusty Ford Taurus Wagon we got everything loaded up...
Its pretty much all there minus a few pieces and misc hardware/nuts and bolts.
Got it back to the house and slapped the wheels back on so at least I could push it around.
Frame is freshly done with new paint and needs a few things still but I can already see the completed project.
This will probably take a while, but was considering going with GSXR running gear along the lines of my 1100ES.
Hope to get some more updates soon.
