Heres the exhaust reletively complete minus the header wrap. You can see i went with a reverse cone megaphone style muffler.. Ill fine tune the exhaust once its all running but i will likely need to enlarge the baffeling until proper flow is achieved

Well im glad its finally coming to an end. I need a rest from doing all these projects of mine haha..

I got the extra wrap and finished off the header tonight. I used those stainless ties to secure it but i also used wire because the ties dont really tighten up well.. Looks ok.. But not sure how it will hold up.. Time will tell.

Im just waiting on a few more exhaust gaskets and ill bolt everything up to stay along with the muffler. The next and final job to do is the tank colour. Might wait till the weather warms up just a bit more.

just a couple small updates..

I broke down and got a shine seal master kit.. If you don't know the product you may want to look into it.. It was once marketed as zoop seal, now refined and easier to apply. Marketed under its newer name. This stuff is supposed to make polished aluminum virtually maintenance free! Up to 2 years!! We will see... Ill be doing reviews on how it holds up and if I am required to do some maintenance on the side.

On the plus side the kit comes with the sealer product but also comes with a product called 'slick finish' once sealed and this slick finish is applied it really boosts your efforts of your polishing. Apply as a wax and remove the remains and I found it really boosts your shine.

Ill be pressing to get the tank done very soon. Work and lack of continuous good weather days has me distracted.. But it will be rolling soon!

And here is the mostly finished product. still looking to clean up some details before it gets ridden.. I feel its a little late in the season to take it outside now so ill start doing some extra finishing to hide some wire and bolts.

On another note I grabbed a 2011 suzuki drz a couple weeks ago.. Just to get me riding this year. Having a blast on that toy. Its bone stock and unmolested, I put on some contrasted plastics and fender eliminator recently.. I really like these city bikes!

Alrighty.

It's been a crazy little adventure for the past little while. Rode the drz for last summer, then bought a house in the fall.. (with a garage). Just recently sold the drz and got elbow deep back into my living room built gs850g!

Trying to dig back to where I left off, I had just finished painting the tank and installed the giblets back onto the tank. Since we've finally experienced some warmer weather here I was motivated to get gas in the tank and begin starting it. I picked up some new fuel line and a fuel filter and hooked it all up. Installed the horns up front and charged the battery.

I had some difficulties with initially starting it but it finally pulled through as it roared to life as good as it once did! I really like the way the exhaust sounds! A little refined and definitely manageable sound.

Well you have done a really nice job on this project but I think it is slightly spoiled by the wrapped headers. Where the collector is covered it makes it look heavy and cumbersome IMHO.

I wonder too about the ability to get the bike certified and insured. I am pretty certain it would not pass without a rear fender and I don't know if the insurer will cover a modified bike.

The insurers are getting harder and harder to deal with in Ontario and it seems to me they are looking for ways to opt out of providing bike insurance. One of the ways is to deny taking on bikes that are modified, especially if those modifications are structural, suspension, braking and or engine related. I ran in to this last year with my FZ and just recently, while checking in to insurance for a CB650 that I am working on now.

In both cases I was asked , "Are there any modifications to the bike at all, suspension, engine, brakes, handlebars...anything?". In addition, I was told I would need to submit a dated photograph of the bike. Three different insures I spoke with stated point blank, "We do not cover modified bikes".

I don't know if you have checked in to this but even if you have obtained coverage, it would be in your best interest to make them aware of your mods and have a signed acceptance from them. I know of one case from last year where a bike was involved in an accident and coverage was annulled when the insurer found out that the bike had....and get this....an after market slip on can. Their reasoning was that it was a modification that increased horsepower and thus performance. I kid you not.

Well, notwithstanding that, I do hope you are able to get it on the road and can enjoy it this season.

I'm not really into sport-tourers myself (), but that is one clean-looking bike!

Also gratified to learn it was built in your living room. It's only proper. A motorcycle is better to look at than TV.
