I really like the styling look of that bike. Where did you come up with that seat? Is is off a Kawasaki?

Daryl - Is there a thread on the forums about the ignition cut switch mod? sounds like something i should do regardless of battery used.

Silver - good price for the 12 cell, don't happen to have a link do you?

      Nate.
It was a 1 day sale sorry, they sold out within an hour.

Hi Gregory, This bike has just be bought recently and came this way.... I organised the purchase of the bike for a friend, its just been delivered to me as i'm the middle man for my friend that bought it.

not sure what the seat is, im fairly certain it isn't staying on the bike however.

If you were on this side of the pond I would probably buy it or trade you for it.

A little hot in the shed this time of year, some 40 degree days this summer have kept me more excited to spend the weekends at the beach or in a pool somewhere instead of working on bikes in the oven otherwise known as my shed....
Still, weeknights after work have been semi productive.

Got the thing running, semi-well. Well enough to go for a quick test ride
Starts on 3 cylinders but clears out after a while...some flat spots low down, but boy, once it gets going..impressive power, it feels quicker than my v-rod.

Not a fan of the muffler, very loud, i thought the MAC exhaust was a good deal, but i wish now i wasn't cheap and spent some extra cash on a better one.
The headers are good though....so i thought i'd try putting something together myself....i liked the idea of dual mufflers so got a 2 into one collector and got the mig out tonight.
Probably not to everyone's tastes....not even sure its to mine yet. will see how it sounds tomorrow. I think it will look better with the cafe style seat/ducktail.
Sending it for tuning/jetting shortly with someone that knows better.

So, good news is the bike passed registration inspection and after parting with 600$ i have brand new number plates and the privilege of using the Australian Capital Territories (and the rest of the states of Oz) roads legally for 12 months!

Bike is on the dyno today to get the jetting right. Tomorrow it will be home and getting pulled apart for painting, polishing etc...

Still, seems a good milestone to have registration....it was last registered in QLD in 98!!

Nice work, mine got roadworthied yesterday and hopefully registered today.
That S in the background of one of the photos looks like it could come up alright?

Thanks mate, hopefully you get the paperwork sorted without any dramas, are they strict in qld?

The 1000s is going to another member on here's collection, I've got another 80 1000e I'm restoring to factory and a 78 1000 that's stripped down to the frame I'm building for a mate in a brat style.

                    Busy man!
I don't think they are too strict up here in general, but we'll see.

Bike never made it on to the dyno, had alot of trouble getting the 33's running right, really didnt want to idle at all.
So to get the bike home to start the strip down, and just to have a little ride and see how it travels i put a spare set of CV's of one of my 1000's on it. It was a good ride home, bike handles and stops very well, although i think i have geared it a little to high, it was just lazy ride, no revs due to the 1000 jetted CVs on it.

When we had a good look at the 33's it became clear what the issue was, feel pretty stupid not picking it up before.

                      Air jets were missing

Ordered after giving myself an uppercut.

Bugger on the 33's, looking good.
What exhaust are you ending up with?
No so sure on the last one ......

Cheers arron, feel pretty stupid, wasted alot of time messing about with the 33s before it was worked out what was missing.

You think that pipe set up looks a bit average huh? I didnt like it much either once i welded it up, i like those cone mufflers though.

I'm not sure what i'll do, i'll prob try to make something, not keen on buying a pre-made kit. Either way it will have to wait a while as ive started pulling everything apart now its registered.

Motor out, going to re-paint casing, barrels & head black. polishing all the covers.
getting the frame ready and it will be of to sand blasters/powder coat next week.

Getting ready to repaint the motor. Have searched and read many a thread on this topic, alot of different methods around.
Picked up a cheap 20kg bag of coarse soda media awhile back in anticipation of having to do this job, although i was dubious as to how it would go in my sand blaster.

Ended up going not too badly, used roughly 5kg of the soda in about an hour or so using the smallest ceramic nozzle i had. Sand blaster took some refining with the pressure settings to get it going well, but overall i was happy with the finish.
Ran out of light this afternoon but got about half the paint off..hopefully finish off tomorrow.
                              Messy job, but pretty rewarding

                              half done

My mate just picked this sweet GSX1100E up.... Its in great condition. Had a very recent topend refresh with on overbore. Its going back to a factory color, unsure which one just yet and ive got all the factory badges ready to go on it. Otherwise it doesnt really need to be touched....
