    Any ideas?

I have almost finished a GS650 (1988) hardtail build. A few things are troubling me.

    1. I have some oil (small amount) running down the fins after the first miles on each trip. When l stop and wipe it clean, it seldom appears again. I cannot see any leaks. Any ideas?
    2. It is also slow to start when cold. A few squirts of 'Easy Start' will get it going, but it is an issue.

    Thanks

I'll assume you have pods for air cleaners by the way you toss about the use of "easy start". Odds are it's not running very good either, is it?

As for the leak, is it leaking from top of the engine? Have you removed the valve cover recently?

        Actually, It is running fine.
No, l have not removed the valve cover lately.
I have noticed a few posts about oil leaks, but no replies to them, so l thought l would ask.

If it's weeping oil and requiring ether to start, I'd question "running fine."

What have you done to the bike already?

That is what the paperwork states. 4 cyl. It has been verified by Suzuki GB. Though l have a feeling it is an earlier engine.

Any numbers on engine- in vicinity of clutch arm? Cam cover and tach drive are possible leak culprits

Verified a four cylinder by Suzuki Green Bay? Suzuki Great Britain? Suzuki Gdańsk, Poland?

OK, it's probably a four cylinder.

Yes, really, If you have nothing worthwhile to do to the bike, then just leave it. You've condemned it to the scrap heap.

Let see, you've almost finished "a hardtail build", It leaks oil and it only starts on ether, no wait, actually it is running fine. SuzukiGB has verified it to be a 4 cylinder.
You post nothing worthwhile, nobody can help you based on the random thoughts(?) you post. If you put some effort into it, did some homework, you might be able to post a couple of logical sentences, maybe some one could then figure out WTF you are talking about, and perhaps help you solve your problem.

                        You asked for Idea's....

I have an idea that you have come across an old motorcycle. You hacked the rear suspension off along with the rear seat frame, fenders, signals mirrors etc. Painted what little remains woodstove black, and now you want it to run. The bike hates you.
PS you've never had the valve cover off.
And another thing, naming your post "any idea's" ..... when we searches for Idea's.......

Dang! Why don't you say what you really think?

In his defense you did jump in there *right quick like* with the dumpster comment.
I agree with most of your post in regards to the OP not giving ample info as to what the problems are, and expecting, almost demanding someone should know the answers. But it happens all the time with newbies. I actually think it's quite humorous.
Relax, take it with a grain of salt. When the dude wants to get his bike perfect he'll come around and we'll be right here to help him.

Nice opening post, how about a hello and a bit of an introduction, before demanding help, and going on about I want?
Or do you just walk into strangers houses and plonk yourself down and put your feet up on the table on a regular basis?
