That may be true about WD 40, but I was able to loosen all the spokes on both wheels without breaking any of them. Now begins the clean up. The wire wheel will make everything clean but I think I'll need some sort of clear coat so the spoke don't rust.

The GS spokes are cad plated and that wears off over time

Try buffing up a couple of them and see what the results are

You'll likely need to replace them if they're rusty

MikesXS carries a set that fits

I'd replace the wheel bearing while you're in there, cheap from your local bearing store

Still working on the rear wheel. I've put at lease 4 hours into it starting with wire wheelin all the spokes, nipples, hub, and rim. Did the same over again with the buffing wheel. Spokes look like new, hub looks pretty good, and rim is finally starting to shine. Picked up a wheel balancer to help with truing the rim. I should have my new bearings tomorrow and then I'll start rebuilding the rim.

Hard to see the spokes but they shined up nicely

Been a while since I've updated this. I'll drop some pics, cuz everyone loves pics. Engine is back in after I had the top end rebuilt. I let the pros do that and I reinstalled with new gaskets. Slowly getting her back together, but hope to get her running soon.

                Installed the chain today.
